    my bj 26 mods

Newbie here.. just bought a bj 26 about a month ago, and started googling. Found this site and started reading and gathering all the info i could to know what the heck im doing and how to make my boat fast, reliable and fun to drive. My main goal is not to race but to just have fun and drive my boat places and get the wow effect from people at the lakes i got to and the river (colorado river for people not from southern california). Drove the boat stock three time with two brand new reedy 5000 mah 35c 2s lipos and loved it, just didnt like how it didnt make left turns very well and was unstable at top speeds. I understand by reading on here that there is alot of haters of this hull but who cares it still looks cool and shreds. I was at lake elsinore two weeks ago and brought my boat, saw a guy running a yellow hydro in the cove where we were... he ran it about three minutes than sunk it so i got mine out ran it for a good ten before i decided to bring it in cause im still a little uneasy about lipos. Got home a decided i wanted to improve performance so i orderd fullers hardware and a bunch of other goodies and here i am.

I attached some pics to show what mods i have done, mostly all from the the how to improve the bj 26 handling issue thread.

    Heres my list:
    -fuller's harware.
    -octura x642 prop.
-removed batt trays and added some 10" long ones made of plexy glass for adjustments.
    -added a extra water pick-up.
    -external on /off switch.
    -removed my moms kitchen tupperware.
-made a new plexy glass cover for esc and to mount servo and reciever.
-slotted bottom bolt hole on fins for adjustment.
-mounted my antenna to rear of hull.
    -proboat programmer.

Not sure if i have all the lingo rite so bare with me lol

I have forerunner 101 gps on its way from ebay i scored for fifty bucks and hope to have it for this weekend to post some speeds for you guys.

Only thing im worried about so far before i run is the slack in the rudder on the fuller's. If any of you experts have any suggestions for me before i run it this weekend please do im wide open for comments and critism.

Looks good. I would put some k&s tubing over the exposed teflon liner and raise the strut about 1/8" to 3/16". Also, put a little space between the drive dog and the strut. Flex cables have a tendency to "wind up" when under load. But those are just my suggestiions. Anyone else want to chime in?

The drive dog is the collar part that the prop locks into.

dom took your advice to the pond this afternoon when i got home from work. ran it before raising the strut and it rode low in the water, moved it up 1/8" and sure enough more boat out of the water and more speed. cant believe how stable this boat is now after these mods, i can run three quarter throttle in the corners no problem with no issues. thanks

stole the idea from another thread. they are 3/16" stainless steel brakeline clips found at most hot rod or offroad shops, got mine at a place called kartek.

Continue adjusting the strut height till it improves. And watch the temps. One more suggestion, I would lower the water pickup tubes a little so that they would at least be in the prop wash. Do you have any newer pics of the adjustments?

just took one. did notice my batt temps were warmer than usual but i also switched my timing to high before the run.

Setting the timing to high will increase your amp draw and shorten run times. May not give a speed increase. Try it with the timing lowered. Continue toying around with the strut height and angle. A little at a time.

Also, get a little space in between the drive dog and the strut. Believe me, that can cause some resistance in the drive train.

ran the boat this weekend in not so smooth water at the river and ran a 38.8 on the gps. Did some tweaks and hoping to break forty this weekend.
