    ESC Overheating

When I took the hatch off after about a 10 minute run yesterday the ESC was smoking. The capacitors were in the beginning stages of melting.

    This is a stock boat.

    Any suggestions?

Have you modified anything or are you using a larger prop?

Everything is stock except for the receiver. My original one got wet and fried so I bought a micro receiver from a local hobby shop and wrapped it in saran wrap.

      Everything else is stock.

I don't have a BJ, but there are several things that could cause overheating in any BL-powered boat:

        - Weeds caught in prop or on rudder
        - Boat running too wet
        - Driveline not properly lubricated
        - Misalignment or bind in driveline
        - Melted/worn teflon stuffing tube liner
        - Poor quality/worn connectors
        - Running boat at part throttle for extended periods
