boat running at 25% of its power

Well I purchased the ESC programming card looking to make the switch to LIPO, but tried it out on the NIMH batteries just for a test. Well after I did this the boat will only run a 25% power. I recharged the batteries and tried to reprogram it again but no look. I do not know what the batteries are putting out but I am wondering if this could cause this problem. The boat was running fine before I made this ill advised decsion. If it aint broke dont fix it. Any help with this matter will be much appreciated it. I used what I belived were the stock settings:
    High timing
    NIMH batteries
    Low voltage cut off
    no brake

What ESC and what programming card. The card sounds like it is set up incorrectly.

I would advise low timing when running NiMH. Also Low cutoff with NiMH.

Has anyone had any Luck getting the brake to work on their ESC?

so the state of the batteries would not affect the programming of the esc?

If the settings are what you say they are, there is no reason for you to lose 75% of your power from programming changes. I'd look elsewhere: bad batteries, a bind in the driveline, bad solder joints, motor wire shorted, damaged ESC.....

ya the batts could be the cause too. I had a set I tried running in my truck which was power hungry and damaged some cells. Even tho they took a full charge again, they would not discharge enough for the boat, and even tho I had the run time, the boat barely moved, about 25% just like you actually. Yet another reason I went lipo. LOL!

                        Usually boaters don't use breaks...
