You expert opinion - prop, strut, rudder choice

    Hi chaps,

I have BJ26, hydra 120, stock BJ Motor and (after some kind advice from you'll) a 30C 5000mAh 4S Lipo on the way. I am now thinking about prop, rudder and strut choice. Any recommendations? I prefer to purchase from this site if possible and support this great forum!

    Many thanks,

    Shanus

    scroll down to:
Fuller's Offshore Catamaran Hardware. comes with a fully adjustable heavy duty strut and bracket, water pickup wedge rudder and mount, .125 flex shaft with 3/16ths stub shaft flex shaft, teflon liner, and fasteners

Top quality, I think its almost a direct bolt up. A little pricey but GOOD!

    Or:

Good, cheaper setup. Also has a skeg on the strut to help keep the hull going straight. Disadvantage is you'll have to add a water pickup, the rudder doesn't have one.

As far as props, look for a x642.
My prop hasn't been wet in a while.

I have the fullers strut and bracket with the speed master mini rudder.
I like the offset rudder for speed

            Thanks for your responses all.

Can someone explain what is the point of the strut? Is it just for added strength or are there performance reasons? I know the BJ uses the outdrive kind of like a strut and without it might be pretty week...what about a boat that uses a drive shaft tube...should it still have a strut?

              strut

the strut is the bearing surface for the prop shaft it is something you have to have. Part of the drive line. the prop shaft spins inside of it and it is also where you adjust your prop angle of attack..
