I came across a blackjack 26 nitro that had hull damadge and was in pieces. I picked the boat up cheap because the owner no longer wanted the boat. The Outrigging was the stearable drive which I Did not care for and I also was not interested in nitro. I changed the boat to brushless and installed the strut and rudder ( Red Set ) that is now offered on the newer nitro version. A new coat of candy apple black paint, and she is now a true black-jack. The boat is still in the tweeking process but I do like the outrigging better than the stearable drive.
Ok, thinking about changing to the hardware on the Nitro aswell. It's about 30$ so if it works it's a good deal. Also thinking about the fuller, but that's like 70$ more expensive so might try the Proboat hardware first. Has anybody tried this?
Here are a couple more images. The boat was reinforced with carbon fiber on the inside and the old holes were fiberglassed over and sanded smooth. This allow me to position the rudder and strut and drill new holes through the transome. They Bolted in Place Rather Nicely.
The hatch cover is the one that came with the boat. The boat was originaly a nitro so it had holes for ventalation. I decided I wanted the boat to have the look of a larger off shore cat, so I filled in around the cockpits with fiberglass and cut out the back and replaced it with a piece of carbonfiber that was fiberglassed in to place. This gave the hull a better apperance as well as stiffen the hatch. This also allowed me to make a smaller hole for the antenna to avoid excess water from entering the hull.
Umm thats not a new version, i was over the other day its still inline. That looks like the one off one of his monos.. He might of been out of stock of the inline's and sent you that
Sorry but your not correct. That is the 6-8 cell mono hardware he has for a long time look on the website. Its not for an offshore catamaran (but it will work) the only thing that he sells for the cat is the inline hardware. Im going to his house today and ill ask him face to face
My buddy is also gonna use that setup on his bj too, but he took it off the delta force mono that he bought from ray. It works but it is not a new version
I spoke to Ray sometime ago about this. He recommended this hardware for the BJ26. At the time, it was considerably better than the Aeromarine hardware... http://www.aeromarinerc.com/index.ph...mart&Itemid=53
Which fits poorly and quite heavy IMHO. I have both and this one is lighter and doesn't look as bulky. And it is much easier to install.
