    First run - wow

so finally took the boat out for it's maiden run. Ran it with 7 cell packs. wow. it was awesome. completely stock. can't wait to see what happens when I finally start to upgrade stuff.

Anyhoo, I didn't really risk doing any high speed turns because I didn't feel like going for a swim. But straight line, this thing rips.

    I am pleased.

can I run the X642 on a stock system? or would I have to wait for the lipo upgrade?

As suggested in my other newb thread, I will also try running it on 6 cells to see the performance difference. If it's pretty close, I might go with 6 cells to save the weight.

I went and ran mine today with lipos first, then back to nimh to show my wife the difference, and when i switched to the nimh she asked me what was the matter with the boat, why was it so slow!!!
Yes its fast, yes it will go far away, yes its expensive. No you cant try it.

my plan is go lipo during the winter break. I just bought a house and am getting married this year, so cash flow is non existant. hehe.

so can I run the X642 prop with a completely stock boat? Or does that require some sort of upgrade to hardware or driveline?

sweet. hehe. I also noticed this boat has no reverse at all. Is that normal on a BL boat? Also, why would the instructions tell you to change the radio throttle to 70/30 as opposed to 50/50, but the stock radio does not have the option. WTF??

Kookie, get another cable on hand,my LHS sold them for $19.99. The x642 will tax the stock u-joint. You don't want to lose a day of running because of the u-joint breaking. I got somewhere in the 40-50 runs before I changed the first cable. I made like 5 runs w/ the new cable/stock prop. I then got a x642 and in 20 more runs that one was in worse shape than first cable. Just trying to help, it's stuff you don't think about when you have a big grin from a real prop. I also was running 2 lipo's.
