antenna mounts

just looking at other posts etc and everyone seems to be relocating the antenna, iam just after some input on where to relocate the antenna and what is the best mount to use and where to get a mount

Just completed this mod yesterday. Made a little bracket from an angled aluminum piece and mounted the antenna to that. They also sell a similar antenna bracket in the store here at OSE. Got the aluminum antenna base from the LHS for $5. Snapped a few pics for reference...

nice clean job there ive seen that type of mount but wondered where it was placed what other mods have you done ??

That's very short how come ? and is that the fullers off set hardware ? i'am across the pond in the UK and can't find any ready to bolt on hardware for the BJ iam a newbie so bolt on would save me alot of time and effort I'd love the fullers kit but it looks like I'd get hammered for import tax if i bought it online

I have got a Spektrum Rx/Tx in it and wanted to keep a little out of the boat just for a warm and fuzzy. It's also a Skater II system from TLR. Haven't had alot of time to play with it and get any kind of speed out of it. Will update when I get out and play some more. Waiting on a x642 right now.

TO STAY ON TOPIC HERE IS MY ANTENNA MOD. IT'S A PUSHROD SEAL THAT IS MOUNTED TO THE CANOPY I JUST USED A SMALL BULLET CONNECTOR AS A DISCONNECT.Chisoxguy13 Has Tlr Hardware. Which I Think Is Pretty Close To Fullers Design. Here Is My Bj26 With Fullers Inline Cat Hardware.

my antenna has arrived which is good but still waiting on my BJ arriving have also got the fullers cat hardware on order to now lets talk hatch tape !!

do you guys use it just to secure the hatch to prevent it from coming off or do you use it and tape all the way around the hatch in case of a blow over to prevent water getting in or indeed a combination of both ??

Another cheap mounting option

Great post !! Here's another cheap antenna mount option that turned out pretty nice. I bought a clear shelf support, removed the back pin with dremel tool. Next drilled two holes in opposite corners in and screwed it to boat. Drill small hole in back through boat large enough to push antenna through. Next drilled hole on shelf and glued stock antenna mount into hole. Insert antenna tube. Done !!

This morning for giggles I decided to try to run my antenna in the hull, laying down. Kept it in the antenna tube, and affixed the end of it under the top side of the hull near the bow. So the antenna runs from the transom straight up the middle of the boat to the bow, just under the hatch and front deck. It seemed to run fine, I didn't try to go crazy far out because I was not in a position where I could go retrieve it if it stopped responding or took off on me, but up to about 100 feet I had good control, this is with the stock Proboat radio set. My thought was that as long as the antenna is kept straight, and above the water line, I should still get good reception regardless of actual orientation (I fly as well, and the antenna in an airplane is usually horizontal, and contantly changing it's orientation throughout a flight), and it seems like I do. Anyone else try this?

So I made what I think is a great, cheap, durable antenna mount that is simple to remove for maintenance. I just about doubled my cost from $1.59 to $2.59 by splurging on a brand new $1 antenna tube. Picked up a Great Planes landing gear mount (4 in a package for $1.59), and attached it to the transom, then used some fuel tube through the transom to seal the entire assembly. Top of the antenna tube is also sealed with a cap that came with the tube. Total cost was under $3. Gotta give credit to my hobby shop guy who helped my brainstorm how to mount the antenna and actually came up with the landing gear strap idea.

Well, here it is.
