BJ26 Nitro to Electric conversion inside.

Hey guys, just thought I would share this build. I have had this hull since 05. The last time it ran with a nitro motor was over 2 years ago. I recently got motivation to finish it out. Here is how it went......don't mind the red paint. I sprayed it with enamel to fix the blemishes. I like the filling characteristics of enamel better than primer and it adheres to the scuffed gel coat a lot better.

Home made motor mount, Castle 3424 1800kv outrunner, home made servo tray, and OSE fiberglass battery trays.


Steering all finished. The boot is not glued yet.


Just before taping the lid to hit the water. ESC is a T60 powered by 4S, 2P. Ran cool as ice!


Tried 2 props. Large ones, and torque roll was very bad. First video is with 42x55 and the second with x445. I was running the stock 15* timing but with a x440 and the timing bumped up to 22.5* it should run as good as with the 42x55 but without the roll.

Open it up for a bit, I wanna see what its really going to do b/c if you remember, IM building a twin w/ 2 of those motors in it.

Oh, man! A twin with these things would rip!! Heading back out tomorrow to open it up along the other end of the pond which is a long straight. The 4S LiPos are too much weight, IMO. I will try a smaller x440 prop and 2, 2S packs and turn the timing up to +20*. Should rip pretty good and be easier to control without the torque roll.

As of now the trade is still on the table. I sent the videos to the member who I will be trading with just to give him an idea of how the boat is coming along. If the deal falls through I will paint it white and keep it. :D

Here is a video from today's final testing. I installed a Prather 215 and 2, 2S packs. The boat doesn't like 4S, 2P. It's too light and narrow. No more torque roll but I forgot to bump up the timing to wake the motor up. Still moving pretty good for only 15*. 22.5* would really wake the motor up!
