    ESC help - burned up

I have a brushless bj 26. Bought it with a small crack near the prop shaft and repaired it with epoxy. The guy i bought it from said it had a bad ESC. I plugged in the stock esc and sure enough it started smoking!

1 - how can i tell if the motor works? can i hook it directly up to the battery? I have other speed controls from a slash i could try but do not want to ruin them

2 - how large of a ESC should I get and where can i get it for the least amount of money?

for example - would this esc work with stock motor? or could i use the 35 amp one?

    thx in advance.

I think that speed control would work, you can get the proboat ones pretty cheap too

The 120 would work.... Don't get the 35amp esc, it wouldn't last very long AT ALL.

The swordfish 120 OSE has would work nicely as well.

It's not. The esc you posted is a seaking 120 v2 same as the 120 listed here: http://kintecracing.com/SeaKing.html

This hobbycity esc http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=10626 is the Hifei swordfish listed here at OSE http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...=hef-sword-120 for the few extra bucks from OSE you will get it in about 3 days and with only a few bucks shipping. From HK with shipping the same esc may cost similar and take about 3 weeks to get to you.

              thx deisel

              deisel

thx for the heads up......................... lets me ask u this............. i run a bunch of cars and trucks and this is my first boat.

the esc i pulled out was in a aluminum container filled with brownish type epoxy or silicone......... i forget what it is called. the one in the pic above looks water cooled but does not look like it is in a container?

do i have to waterproof these shrink wrapped type ESCs or do anything special?

              thx in advance.

Nope with the seaking just plug them up and run it nothing special needed. They don't come with any connectors installed so you will have to solder some on yourself. While your soldering the esc up you may as well change the 3.5mm motor bullets over to 5.5mm.

On the Hefei esc (turnigy aquastar) I do waterproof those.
