thoughts on blackjack 26 with sv motor on 3s

just bought a blackjack for my 9 year old.
plans to put a SV motor in it on 3s to start with and a hacker navy 70.

any thoughts on the boat in general ? what to look out for and so on.

BJ needs the handling tweeked a good bit, it's far from a RTR IMO of course. Maybe like a RIO Ep with a better esc to start and get into the hobby with.

i have to be honest. i dont exspect the world from this boat. but it would be nice that it ran ok on glass water sinse that is what we have 4 minutes from the house :)

Yea it will work for what you want. Just turn the steering gain down a good bit cuz she will roll in a sharp turn.

I used a x642 on mine. Ran good, nothing crazy. 3s will be slow enough, on 19k unloaded rpm. Maybe start with some CF props so you did stick a good Octura on their. CF42-CF45. I hope it's not so slow that it doesn't plane out right and cavatate to much.

              i was thinking x440\3 or x440.
or just order up a bunch of CF props from steven as you sugest. he is likely to "stuff" the prop a few times.

Yea that's what I was thinking. Don't want to ding up a good Octura prop. Is that a newer or older verison of the SV motor?

no it wont turn any heads. but with a work horse like the old SV motor he can go up 1s to 4s when he is ready and it wil be flying.
i just love the old sv motor. no matter what you trow at it (within reason) it wil just keep on going like a duracell bunny on speed :)

3s should get you on plane. I use one of my Blackjacks on 2s for a rescue boat and it is just about on plane but not quite.
