    Antenna and Drain Plug Mods

Thought I would put up a separate thread for this.

First is my antenna mod. Used a 1/8" great planes nylon landing gear strap to attach a standard traxxas antenna tube to the back of the boat, and then enclosed the antenna wire in a section of silicone fuel tube to completely waterproof it. Top of the antenna has a rubber cap on it as well.

To fill the stock hole in the hatch where the antenna originally was, I just happened to come across a black plastic plug on the floor that covered a screw hole on an office chair, and thought that it looked like the perfect size to plug the hatch hole. It was. Added a bit of silicone to the bottom to ensure it was water tight, and now I have an attractive solution that is completely reversible if for some reason someone wants to put the radio box back in. Here are the pics.

Sadly, I lost my drainplug to the depths of a lagoon when I placed it on the side of a (real) boat and when I went back for it, it was gone. After I got over the infinite sadness of losing that trick looking knurled plug, I went home and made something up. Small length of 3/16" brass tubing with a washer soldered to the end. Works perfect, and is actually a lot easier to remove than the original plug since this one is easier to grab. Here that is:
