Not the right forum for this i know, but alot of you guys have answered alot of my questions and for that id like you guys that helped with the paint to see my half ass results. SO FAR its taken over a freaken week just to get the right paint to lay the right way and im still not happy with it, im tired of messing with it so screw it for now.
I used Krylon Sun Yellow for the stripes about 3 bucks a can and a cheap wal-mart gloss black about 96 cents lol Cheap. Every time id paint with the yellow it would wrinkle and crack and id have to re-sand and try again. The black layed perfect. I just got everything back on it. Ill try to take some more pics and video of its Second maiden voyage In the light Maybe itll look better then.

I dont see anything wrong with your paint job either, looks good. But the way you describe your problem, It doesnt sound like you are wiping the boat down with rubbing alcohol before you paint ? I have had the same problem as you and was told that the oils in your skin ( and other things ) while handling the boat, can cause your paint results. and I have had great success with the Krylon Fusion paint. it is meant for plastic but works on other materials too, supposed to not harden all the way and have some flex. So try putting some gloves on and wiping down the boat before you paint, it seems to have helped me. and remember that several light coats are better than one heavy coat!

Thanks for the info on the krylon paint. Its holding up pretty well, but ill try it that way when i go to redo it this winter!

For best results always use the same type of paint. Enamels and lacquers don't always get along. Also with some if you don't paint in certain time limits you have to wait a week before you can recoat.

WHAT!?!? a week just to recoat? thats nuts. painting just seems so difficult, according to my friend its easier then sleeping (professional house painter) he does it everyday all day long and out of machines or off a roller! (back to topic)
i had to resand it about 4 times because i would sand wipe down with clean water to get rid of the dust, let dry wipe again with dry paper towels for dust one last time and id spray. it would lay the first coat awesome like. second coat started to look like i took a razor blade knife and started slicing the paint all the way down the hull then it wrinkled up like tinfoil. no idea why had to resand again. Finally finished product. Its going to the body shop this winter and im going to go nuts with it!. Also People have the carbon fiber inside reinforcements for the bottom of the hull right? Wait ill make a new post and see what ALL people have to say in the BJ26 forum.

painting a house is completly different.. and if you use two different types of paint then you will have a chemical reaction.. if you painted the boat with latex paint and roller then you can ask your guy for advise..

i plan on redoing it again.. try and go to harbor freight and get a real paint gun with basecoat and clearcoat.. theres nothing better then practicing on your boat

Thats awesome! i do not paint. Make this known. i despise painting, so the people that paint amaze me. (specially when you can paint like that!) I will try a few more times. in the likely hood of me not succeeding im taking it to a airbrush shop or going back one solid color. Yours looks awesome tho! Thanks for the post. Gives me some ideas..... lol

Its the Krylon paint and nothing more that you did wrong. It sucks. Thier new formula is horrible. Being in SC and trying to spray w/ the heat and likely humidity is impossible. I have a whole post somewhere on here about Krylon paint and using it in humid hot conditions. Answer, it doesnt work. It wrinkles, it cracks and the clear hazes. Your better off w/ cheap .96 cent paint. the only thing Krylon has going for it, it it bites very well to a properly prepared surface. Dont be frustrated at yourself and think you cant paint.. you can.. Krylon just needs to get thier ish together.....

Those are airline paint jobs man. "Good from a far, but far from good" lol. Planes sure do look nice looking from a window in the terminal. Come down to my level and see what some of those paint jobs "really" look like lol.

I had painted the front of my boat with some paint I had, it seemed fine, then I sprayed the whole thing with auto primer, bad deal. I had to strip every thing off, I tried paint for plastic and it seem to work, I used the same paint on my abs boat and it holds up well.
