if you read back through these threads you will find some people are using fins and some are not. I have come to the conclusion that there is no right answer, I think you will have to try it both ways and form your own opinion to which way works best for you, I am putting a boat together for the first time and it can get confusing when someone says yes and then someone says no? I think I am going to try without them first (Since I dont have any)and glass in the last step. I wish I had a better answer for you, and can only tell you what I've read on here, and thats all I have been doing since I bought my bare hull. I hope this helps! I've been watching this thread and waiting to see how many conflicting answers you would get, and was surprised that no one has attempted to answer your question yet, but if the replies start pouring in, you will probably be more confused than before you asked this question. So take them off and try it, angle it, shorten it, move them closer together, anything you can think of to find which setup works best for you. I hope you will keep us informed about which way you end up with. -
Cat boats do not need fins. If a fin helps a cat boat turn - there is something wrong is the design of the cat boat. Read through this form and see how many people are amazed at the way Aeromarine cat boats handle versus other cat boats - then look at the bottoms of the various cat boats. (Just to answer the next question, Aeromarine was there first.)Comment
