    Paint paint PAINT!

Okay im not a painter by any means. So can anyone tell me the best kind of piant to use on my Blackjack? im tired of the white and blue and yellow. looked good for about the first month then it just got old. Whites just not my color any how. So any one have any suggestions on the kind of paint or even a color that someone may have seen and liked. Up for any suggestions. Mainly paint and or primer if needed! THANKS!

Thats funny you mention that paint scheme. My wife said solid pink with rainbow stars Lol. I might would consider it when my daughters get big enough to control FE boats. (im hoping will happen) But any how thanks for the heads up on searching the forums for paint lol.

I've been using Dupli-color automotive Acrylic Lacquer with an appliance epoxy base to adhere to the gel coat.

I'll tell you how I like it at the end of the season. =)

So far it's working out great.

I see you are in SC. Unless you can paint in an air conditioned space don't do it until this fall. The paint/clear will blush and give you less than desired results. I live in VA and can only paint from October to April in the garage unless I want to do a lot of wet sanding and buffing.

I actually painted at about noon today its roughly 6:15pm now i used regular old mettalic spray paint and painted it in the shade it was very dry hot today. let it sit for about 30 min in the shade and moved it to direct sun light and let it cook all the way around for about an hour looks pretty good seeing as i done everything in a few hours sand prime paint and play. some of the paint came off because of the tape but i figured that to happen any how. I did one with a permy marker before it lasted forever after it dried good and talk about an easy touch up lol. i used a harder thinner kind of silver paint as a primer for now u cant scratch it off and used the mettalic over top of it looks pretty sweet besides the sandpaper lines lol and all the wholes in the back from moving and testing fins and trim tabs. Work In Progress WFO!

Good deal. Here in FL, I can't paint unless I'm in direct sunlight, the humidity is so high, like 90% plus all the time. Letting it bake in the sun helps smooth out the coats. If the sun isn't shining directly on it, I'll get a foggy clear coat...

Keep us posted and post up some pics!

i keep telling people to just spraypaint it with whatever color you want then take it to a automotive bodyshop and ask them to clearcoat it with a car they're already doing... they wont charge much and you'll have that nice shiny wet looking clear. its real simple. spraycan clears wont give you the desired results

Amen. It is so difficult to get the thickness and the spray right to get a good clear coat from a can. I can do OK, but never get it near as good as a shop does.

Did anyone try putting your paint cans including clear in very hot pot of water?
it thins the paint and lets it flow better when spraying, I tryed it when I sprayed a stripe on my boat and it worked pretty good.

I leave mine out in the sun to warm up before spraying, so yeah, kind of, but not to that extent. Thinner would help.
