Had my first run with the BJ more questions.

I noticed that u can give it WOT and it wont speed away for a few seconds..seems it has a delay. is that because it needs to get off the water? The batteries were about stock postion just lower. without the battery trays. I guess I can say the steering sorta sucks with the stock setup. haha

Are you using lipos? Just wondering because they should get you on plane quickly.

        Slow responding throttle

I have noticed the same thing. If you're stock setup (as far as the components), set the speed control to "hard timing." Big increase in acceleration and top end but slightly decreases run time.

Good point! Also, what prop are you using?

Alot of folks are running a x642 prop. I am also, but I am going to try a x645 which is one size larger in dia, I S,b,detounged it and backcut it
I also want to try a x640 prop which is 1 size smaller in dia and rework it to include cupping it and see what happens with it. but like I said most are running the 642 with good results.

Sometimes the stock ESC resets. If you touch the throttle at all while it does the initial 5 individual beeps, it sets back to "soft timing."

1st run 1st flip broke prop?

Well I learned real quick props are brittle. Glad I had a spare. Metal one on the way. Guess now I need to figure out the next improvement. Pleased with stock performance with 5000 lipos with 40C. Guess out with the batt holders and lower mounting. Anyway any suggestions will be welcomed so as to not reinvent the wheel.

                  Thanks

Everyone recommends getting rid of the battery holders to lower the batteries for stability. I don't see it helping. The Blackjack is just a very tall hull for the length. My other catamaran has the batteries side by side in the middle, so close to the top that battery sizes are limited - if I want to use 4s batteries I have to get a smaller mah size so they'll fit. But that boat is unbelievably stable, I've run it full throttle in 6-8" waves (rollers not chop) in the middle of lakes and it jumps nicely lands flat as a pancake. The only thing that has ever happened is I've submerged it twice. The Blackjack is fast but not so steady. I think the fins on the Blackjack cause the instability, the guys who have angled them inward or shortened them have the right idea.

The main reason is not to lower the batteries, it's done so that you can adjust the batteries forward and aft to change the cg of the boat, with the trays in place your stuck with a set cg. It's a quick easy way to adjust between running loose and wet without actually adjusting strut, trim tabs etc (hardware)...

What is this 5 beeps thing? Does it say that anywhere in the manual? Is a x642 good even if it is not sharpend or balanced?

When connecting the batterys and turning on the esc you here eather one beep or five beeps, this is setting the esc, while it is beeping and you push the throttle foward it changes the settings and yes it is in the manual as to what the beeps are.
no the octura props are rough casts and running that way will be hard on your motor, excessive vibration and low speeds, they really need to be sharpened and balanced as much as possible, and when you get that down you can detoung it,
props are a whole new world in rc boating and there is alot of info to be had.
                          have fun.

Sorry about that, I believe the beeps are in the program card instructions, i'm looking on line for it now, do you have the program card?

                              LOOK THIS OVER
I know that it tells about the 5 beeps some where because their are short beeps and long beeps and that pushing the throttle foward will change yhe settings, just need to find them

ok page 7 of the manuel saids the esc will beep till you give it full throttle, but I remember reading what all the beeps mean some where, now i'm lost.
i'll keep looking but I need to get back to to work,
                              later g-unit aka bobby g
