New to the water. few questions

Hey all. I bought this boat cuz some of my hobby buddies are going to a lake this weekend and i did not want to go empty handed. I come from Rc cars with 2 slashes and 2 hpi bajas 5bs.

my first question is will this boat handle 30c twin 3s lipos or is 2s the way to go. i am not going to go to crazy with this thing in terms of mods so stright lines a few turns is all.

second is i will be doing the battery tray mod asap but how do i hold the batteries down after? velcro? is it really worth all the trouble to a very easy going user?

thanks! also what runtimes would i get at stock setup with 2s 5000mah batts.

Edit - Sorry didnt see it in the Blackjack section

Stick with two 2s batts in series. Yes, Stick on velcro should be fine, definately fasten them down as they can shift moving the COG of the boat, runtime will depend on prop, setup and driving style, 4-5 mins or so is what id expect

I would probably move them back until the boat gets all flighty, then move them forward again a wee bit.. you will get the best performance right on that edge

What prop are you considering running? If you're sticking with stock and the wind isn't bad, I'd personally pull the trays and put the lipos a 1/4" back. If she runs real wet, move her back some more.

Definitely do yourself a favor and add flotation to the hatch.

I am doing the flotation on the roof as we speak. 2 big pieces of foam. Stock prop for now.

I'm running 2x2s 5000 and if you drive it respectivly I can run up to 20 min before esc shuts down and it is shutting down at about 3.25 per cell so that's pretty good.

                    Whahh??? 4-5 minute runtime. I have a blackjack 26, with two 7.4 volt 40c 5000's, and it runs a good 15 minutes.

Yes it is and that would make it 5s, I want to try that also, just keep your mah and c rating the same.

It's also a good idea to match the same manufacturer with same cells and similar cycles on the lipos. Otherwise you may find you'll drain one of the cells lower than what is safe before the ESC hits the LVC = Low Voltage Cutoff. If you don't, you risk losing one of the batteries, shortening the life of other components, and possibly destroying anything close to that battery that comes in contact with the flames or smoke. => Just trying to ensure you don't have a bad day at the pond.
