they are the same power set ups. both are over 30 MPH out of the box. speed will depend on your mods/upgrades. Fastech is more stable in corners but some people getting 50+ mph on black jack ( slow in turns ) Quastion is are you going to do any upgrades or not and how much mula are you planing to spent after the purchase. For now get good set of lipos and prop X642 that would work on both boats without any changes. This will give you speed increase. There is soooo much info on both of this boats here for you to use is not funny... Happy reading....

    PS
I had both of them in the past and still miss them so much.... Wicked boats out of the box!!!
Oooo, Fastech is more challenging to tape the hach

i like your style man. yeah im going to basically be runnin them at lake havasu in arizona occasionally when i go. its pretty choppy sometimes during the day from all the boats but at dusk its pretty flat. i will be running it mostly in california at mildyly large ponds. i will maybe be doing a few upgrades maybe like 100$ worth maybe but not right away. i have some 3c 11.1v lipos

Out of the box manual is suggesting to use 2 2S lipo's. Some people here are using 3s and up but you will void your warranty if doing so...
If you thinking flat water, BJ will be great. Fastech will love to go on rough but is also graet on flat. Monos like both.....

I have a BJ26 and I can say it is upside down a lot. When my lake gets more than a strong wind chop, I will run a different boat. Only seeing the Formula in vids, it seems it may be more what your looking for.

As for your battery statement, 3C or are you meaning 3S, 11.1? You will want a minimum of a 20C battery.

EDIT: DOH, you posted while I was typing. I think you made the better choice. Keep us posted on your purchase and enjoy!
