    Turn Fin Problems

Ok so as part of my build I am attempting to remove the turn fins. The blind nuts just spin and is making it difficult to remove the screws holding the turn fins on. I know the solution is most likely to cut the bolts out, but I thought maybe someone here may have an alternative. Any Ideas?

    Thanks,
    Mike

I had the same problem i just held the nut with pliers and worked the screw back and forth until it came out.

I had to use needle nose vise grips and dig into the wood a little to hold the backing plate.

Might try to wedge a small flat blade screw driver into the wood right up against the side of the blind nut.

I have tried everything except the needle nose vice grips. It looks like some of the epoxy, from when the factory finished the boat, coated the grips and screws. It does not help that the screws themselves are stripped out, as this happened almost immediately.

I guess I will just take a roto tool to them and cut the heads off and push them through, and order more screws, probably aluminum. Then I will ano them red with the rest of the rear end hardware.

          In a word GRRRRRRRR!
