But when you glue the cf motor mounts , you Will not have adjustment ! For sure , when the flex is proper align with the coupler , no need to adjust anymore !

Hey Banzee, I ran today again and had the smoke and also noticed most of my grease coming back up through the Teflon liner inside the boat. Could it be the liner is bad? I'm pretty sure I have this motor shaft lined up with the stuffing tube. I also noticed after a few passes, I assume the grease eventually worked it way up the tube and I'm running a dry flex shaft which is causing the smoke? Today that right side motor left me battling trying to bring it in on one prop. Lol. I really wanna know what's causing it.

You won't need to adjust it. It's perfectly lined up when you glue it

Maybe I missed someone doing this in the past 33 pages or talking about it, but I plan on getting a Zelos 36 once they are back in stock and will most likely mount the ESCs down in the sponsons in front of the motors to move the weight down lower. I may have to mod the battery tray to allow for the batteries to be moved further back to keep a good for/aft CG. Has anyone tried this?

The ESCs are 100% waterproof and we all know the lower you keep the weight, the better. The battery packs weigh more than the power system and ideally the best place for them would be in the sponsons, but obviously isn't an option with this boat, so I would rather keep as much down in them as possible. You'd be moving probably 300+ grams down at least an inch I would think? Am I nuts or wouldn't this be the best setup? There may be more vibrations down there so I plan on mounting them like I would the gyros on my helis, which would be a layer of foam tape to the bottom of the boat, then a layer of 1/32" carbon fiber sheet, then another layer of foam tape between the plate and ESC. Works great keeping the vibrations out of the gyros and should be more than enough for isolating them from an ESC.

I would also think that having that higher battery weight more concentrated to the for/aft CG should make it handle and turn better. It's basically what you would try to do for a better handling heli. Try to keep the awkward weight closer to the main rotor. Same thing for a car too. Turns quicker and easier having the weight low and concentrated as much as possible. The motors, ESCs and batteries packed closer together instead of spread throughout the boat. It should all work the same I would think?

I'll take one my right motor mount comes loose and shifts almost every outing. Let me know if you have anymore pics/details. Thanks Brian

Hum , in my case , the only time i got smoke that came from the teflon was when the motor ( on left side , the one who rotate cw (when you look from the back )) moved . The teflon seem a little bit damage , but not enough to be replace . I put the motor in place well align and no more smoke ! Maybe you should replace you teflon and check if the stuffing brass tube got no damage .

The grease coming back UP ?? Suppose to go down to the strut . when you check the flex and it spin correctly , you see the spirale going down ! I don't know if you understand , cuz english is not my first language .

Totally agree with you , and with that motor mount , you will able to put heavier motor on it ??? Like the stock voracity one ??

Yeah the grease on that side comes back up the tube into the boat. All the grease is at the tip of the Teflon tube on the inside of the boat. The shafts came labeled R&L so Based on that I would ASSUME it's on the correct sides. I have zero vibrations at the beginning on my first run, but it seems the more the grease works it's way up, I'm rubbing metal to metal. I know kfx don't normally run Teflon on his builds but that would then mean my motor/shaft isn't aligned. Kinda lost at this point.

But if you remove the Teflon , the difference between the flex and the stuffing tube diameter is too important , IMO , i think it won't be good ! Better change the Teflon and see ! Check the alignement too ! But you said that is good !

Yeah I'll go over it again and see. The sound I posted in the above video is not there during the first min or 2. After a few passes then the noise shows its ugly face. You may be right with the teflon needing to be replaced.

What size is the teflon liner for the Z? Anyone have a link without the shaft?

The teflon liner convo has me stumped. Im still running the stock liners. Thinking of tossing them just because of the amount of runs on them, one lil strand of teflon can ruin everything. On another note, my paint job is finished and it is horrible. The hatch came out great but separating the two I think is where I screwed up. Two days prep work on the hull only to have the clear orange-peal and pit. Heart broken.. I think I got a bad mix or ratio of hardener. Going to try to wet sand down without cutting color and respray the clear. Worst case starting over.. Really need to get this thing back on the water. Cant wait to try some different battery combos.

Sorry to hear about your paint progress. Im sure you will have it ready to go in a jiff! Regarding my right motor getting hot, I am too stumped! I thought at first it was motor alignment but I got that sorted (at least I hope I did) What would cause the grease to come back up into the boat? A damaged teflon? How did it get damaged? Beats me! I must say though, the boat ran like a rape ape, ive never seen it run like that before but I still had some white smoke after the run, I have friction some where taking place and you can smell it! I'm running stock S&B props, struts are neutral, 6s Graphene Revos to each motor. Nothing else!

This may sound like a horribly stupid question but, are the cables being run on the right side/ rotation. If they are running the right direction the will try to pull grease out not in. Running them the wrong rotation they would expand causing a ton of friction. I think they would have unraveled by now but just a thought.

Its one of those things that have been lingering in the back of my head since some suggestions started popping up. When I bought the OSE HD flex, one came labeled (R) assuming this is right hand cable. Thats where it went. Any other way to know if its in the correct shaft?
