    ProBoat OutBoard Leg questions

I am converting an old Dumas Hot Shot IV 28 1/2" tunnel to electric. (Just for fun). I want to buy the ProBoat OutBoard Leg. Will the Leopard 3650 fit? I have a Lucas Oil Cat running a 3656 1800Kv with Octura X442 props on 4 cell. I was thinking of trying one of the props with the Leopard 3650 1840 Kv motor on 4 cell. Any advise would be appreciated before I order.

    Why the proboat leg?

It would fit, but you have to have access through the black cover for the motor wires to couple to the ESC also a water cooling exit.

Actually because I like the look of it. Not going to race it.

Thanks, that wouldn't be a problem.

            Yes... it will fit...

And to note... the lower uses standard K&B Style propshafts (I'd recommend the Hyperformance RC units) and standard K&B sized flex cables...

            Have fun...

Is that the cable for the 3.5 or the 7.5/11cc K&B outboard?

And... for the record, the ProBoat lower, which I did the design work for ( hand drawn engineering drawings... ) , is very similar in operational dimensions to a standard OS lower. If you take away the exterior look, then the remainder is like any other competitive lower.

Thanks! I was looking for something that looked good and would be reliable.

I would HIGHLY recommend getting this propshaft once yours wears out:

It has about 1/4" longer shaft, and will likely be the last one you need to buy.

Otherwise, just keep the cable lubed and make sure everything is lined up (motor with cable) and you should be trouble free.

OH, make sure that you adjust the coupler, or the length of the flex, to allow for just a LITTLE bit of float of the cable into the square-drives. In other words, don't JAM the cable up into the coupler/propshaft when it's tight. Better to have just a slight amount of end-play.

I don't see a cell count for the Leopard motors. I have about a dozen airplanes and their motors list acceptable cell count. 2 to 3, 4 to 6, etc. Can I run a 5 cell with the Leopard 3674 1400 Kv? That would keep the theroritcal RPM to 25,900.

                            With ease buddy.
I ran the 3674 1700kv on 5s for years. It was a killer combo. 1400 would be better on 6s imo
