New 48" Gas Powered "Rock Star" Cat from Pro Boat

Just saw this announced this morning...

New 48" Gas Powered (CV motor) Cat. Has on-board electric start, etc. Pretty nice looking setup. Seems like a step in the right direction.

I haven't seen one personally, but they did take my advice to make the hull quality more solid than previous offerings. Weighs in at 20lbs, so it's certainly fairly stout.

Have no idea how it performs. I'm told they are getting 48mph out of it out of the box. Based on the "stock" props that come from the RTR suppliers, I'm guessing there is much more there.
Pro Boat has you covered with RC boats that deliver phenomenal performance with head-snapping style, perfect for pools, lakes, and ponds.

Here is the video introducing this boat. Quite a step up in RTRs!

Looks like an awesome boat, I'd trade all of my rc boats for this boat.

Looks great. I wonder where the extra weight comes from? 20 Pounds? Maybe the starter system? Most gas cats weigh in at about 14 15 pounds. My electric T cat weighs in at 20 pounds. Great looking boat though. Darin get one, put a pipe on it, and tell us how it goes!

              Howard,

I know that Pro Boat is doing some work to make the hulls stronger. The HyperSport 48" Gas Mono was a nice hull design (Not crazy about the deck, the but the bottom worked really well once I added some weight to the hull along the CG.), but the empty hull was less than 5lbs... and VERY thin.

I suspect that this hull is pretty solid for a "Chinese Glass" laid up hull. That, and yes, the on-board starter system and clutch likely add some weight.

Boat comes with a tuned pipe, but I there is likely more to be gained there.

Like with all Gas motors... a quick trip to the local GoPed or specialty Gas boat shop would likely result in another 2-3 hp!

I'm going to try to get one of these, but it may be a bit. I, too, need to save my penny's to afford it.

I can only go by what you guys are seeing... I've never seen it in person, and the team doing it didn't request my input. I suppose it's a form of getting my input, however, that they used my hull-design....
