    Prop question

I just purchased a grimracer 40-52/3 prop and balanced it and sharpened it and it cavitates like mad. I just upgraded from the stock prop and am only running 3300 nimh batts is it maybe not sharp enough?

Did you sharpen it yourself or did you get it done by someone. This is my first time tweaking a prop on my own so maybe thats the issue.

may i ask where you sharpened it? and it also must be balanced. but i must say that ive taken 40/52-3's right out of the package and had great performance- so maybe you did mess it up

Did you do anything to the back of the prop? Did you polish or create the edge using the backside?

I was just curious. I haven't been in the boating side of the rc to be an expert by any means. I'm running the 42x55 two blade and it is like night and day compared to the stock prop. I had read that doing any polishing or sharpening to the back of the prop could cause problems.

Yes the 2blades just jump out of the water on the start.

so i know balancing causes vibration issues if it is off balance but would it cause cavitation? or is that more the sharpening side?

                        Vibration can cause cavitation too

Can you post a couple of pictures of the prop? I don't have an SV but I have heard that many have had problems with that prop.
