    Flipped it today .....

I flipped the SV today and it ended up doing it's icerberg imitation before I could cast a line over the hardware and reel it back in.

    everything got dunked.

Do I cut the shrink of my batts and air it out ?

My Rx is treated with CorrosionX so that'll be OK

Is my stock SV ESC cooked ?

Is the Liposhield done for ?

    How about the motor ?

I took the electronics and put them all in a Tupperware with the big silica gel (1/2 pound) I normally keep in my gunsafe.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated !

It would probably be best to cut the shrink. Your ESC should be water proof. Don't know about the liposhield. Spray the motor with WD-40.

Im not sure at all how we on the forums can answer 99% of your questions.
We can not test any of the electronics for you that are in your boat.

you need to remove everything and let everything dry.
Taken apart and under a light source preferably.

To keep this from happening again, you need to put some control behind your finger and to me it sounds like you need to seal or reseal your hull.

I'm not asking you guys to test things for me .... I'll do that once things dry out.

What I'm ASKING is if anyone has dunked similar equipment and had success in using lipos, ESC, Liposhield after allowing time for the stuff to dry ?

Everything is taken apart and in a Tupperware with 1/2 lb of Silica Gel Dessicant.

Thanks for the condescending reply though ... much appreciated.

            Hi Dave,
            Like Domwilson said,
Yes, CAREFULY cut the shrink off of your cells and let them air out.
I would open up the RX and let it air out even though you have it treated.
            The ESC should be fine.
Let the LiPo sheild dry out and then test it.
Spray out the motor and bearings real good with WD-40 and oil the bearings before you run it again.

Taping the hatch down will go a long way in keeping your equipment dry in a rollover.
            Good luck,
            Doug

Thanks for the valuable advice guys !

              • I used baby fingernail scissors and cut of the shrink. The connections don't show any signs of corrosion and there is no puffing.

              • Popped the Rx apart for more drying

              • Washed down the motor with WD-40 as soon as Domwilson sugested it

              • Will tweak my 3PM settings and not turn so tight in the future .....

My silicon seal must not have been that good so this has taught me that hatch tape is my friend.

              Thanks,

              DaveC

I love my aircompressor! Everyone should have one. Blower nozzle really get water out from areas you can't see. Then let it dry out for a couple days before powering up. Some alos use a blow dryer to begin the drying process.

Tape is your friend. $3.00 roll of tape $300+ in a boat you do the math.

Update ..... the only question mark is the lipos this morning.

                    • Used my Airbrush compressor to 'blow' out as much as I could last night.

Tested all the electronics this morning with a 6-Cel NiMH pack. Seems like it's all OK.

Will let the Lipos dry til Wed before trying them out again.
