    SV27 Reciever:

I swamped my SV the other day and doing so screwed up my reciever. Does anyone know if I can puchase a stock replacement, or should I just purchase a new 2.4 TX and reciever???

2.4 is the way to go these days, but if you had another AM reciever laying around, you could probably use the crystal from the old one. If I were racing, or around a lot of other RC boaters and had the funds available, I would go with 2.4.

Just dry it out in a window sill or outside for a day or so it will come back.

Ah, the magic drying window again...guess we are still stuck in the 1950s.

A much more effective approach - open the case (if you can), remove the crystal, and blow off any obvious water from the boards and sockets. Heat the electronics with a hair dryer but be careful not to get the parts so hot that you cannot touch them. (Take about five minutes of careful heating if you can't remove the case.) This will dry the electronics rapidly, reducing the chances of oxydation and improving the chances that the receiver will come back alive. Best to leave the case open for an hour or so to cool down before reassembling.

Or you can wait a few days while the electronics slowly dry and oxidize in the magic window, your choice.

I dried it out and the problem is that it has developed a mind of its own. The steering servo goes nuts when you plug it in and it seems that it will not reccieve the signal from the transmitter when in the water. The motor also seems to be fine.

Well....I have swamped mine as well and dried it out on an ac vent at my house and it came back to life without issue. I have since sealed the rx up with hot glue. I assumed that since it was stated that it was "screwed up" that it no longer would work.
On another note, I can see that the rc boat forums have the same personality types as some of the other rc forums out there based on some of the responses to this simple question.............I was really hoping for something different in here......

If it's doing that I would opt for another reciever. If you can't find a stock one, another AM 2 channel reciever that is Futaba compatible with work fine with your TX......of course you have to be on the same channel....

Get a futaba am 75 reciever and use the crystal that was in the stock reciever- it will work perfect and the futaba dont mind being dunked, they come back everytime w/ no probs. I know first hand
