    Faulty Lipo shield?

I have a stock Supervee and just recently upgraded to Lipos. I recently bought a LipoShield soft cutoff by Dimension Engineering. When it is installed my esc sometimes arms and sometimes dosn't and throttle control is spuratic except on top end. When I take it off everything works great- Is this a bad Lipo Shield?

I brought 2 liposhields from kinetic racing.
Even downloaded the instructions to make sure all was right. Conected one up and within 2 seconds fried the brown wire. Thought i must have done something wrong so took it all to the local HS and they confirmed I had it right.

Emailed both suplier and manfacturer, got concerned responses, the manufacturer was going to look into how or why. Havnt heard anything since.

Has anyone had any other problems or successes with the liposhield? In in the mean time I simpley run Nimh or my 10000 Mah 20c Lipos for 5 minutes max.

The Dimension Engineering Lipo shield that I bought some time ago seemed to have 'loose' contacts into the ESC plug.So I just gave the pins a bit of a bend & they made a more positive contact in the plug. The intermittent problems went away. You might have the same problem davidb.

Got my new lipo shield today from Jan at Kintec and the brown wire melted when I hooked it up. Turns out I had the power leads backwards!! After some new wire in the boat and proper hook up it works great.
            Thanks Jan

Wow this hobby is fun! I have to admit I am new to it and have seen my share of "Mission Imposible" up in smoke moments in both boat and cars but it is alot of fun when things finally work. Then you upgrade and the smoke starts all over again for me any way!!

I just purchased a lipo shield and hooked it up as perscribed, but nothing. No movement of the rudder servo, no throttle.....nothing but the green blinking light that shows number of cells(4). I do have a humming that comes from the esc now. I'm a little dissapointed with this 20 bucks I just threw in the wind.....

Do you have the red wire going to the positive on one battery and the negative on the second battery. Are you using an external BEC? From what I hear, they have a pretty good tech support that can help.

Yep, I have it hooked up to the main leads that come from the battery to the esc.......originally where I had my novak one hooked up. Everything works fine without it in the loop. I'm not using a seperate BEC, but I have one that I can use if need be.

                        Take a look here.. http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/wiring.php

Verify your connections. I would call their tech support if you are still having issues. You may have just gotten a faulty one.

Yes sir, I have it wired just as illustrated. I'll double check it to make sure when I get back to my house. It's frustrating when you have to order things and hope to recieve before the weekend.....and then they don't work. Man.....I wish there was a local hobby shop near me......

I understand. Been thru this myself with other items. But I'm confident you will get this resolved.

Hi i just got one from Kintec and i called them and made sure i hooked it up correctly he said i did not need a external receiver battery and walked me through hook up for my SV27 and mine seems to be working fine...I did not test it in the water yet but a dry test shows it to be working perfectly normal now.
