    SV 27 Temps

What temps is considered safe for the SV?
Im a bit confused by some of the threads. ie Degrees C (Celsius) or Deg F (Fahrenheit).
My average temps are (Deg C) 60-70 motor, 58-66 esc and batteries between 60 and 80 depending upon run time. I have damaged the shrinkwrap on a set of batteries early on and now run the boat for 4-6 min max

Also what is the max Voltage the standard SV motor can take?

Thinking of increasing the capacity (not Voltage) of the batteries for cooler running. Would that help? What are the 10000Mah lipos like?

I'd never want to exceed 70C on any of the components, 55C is better. The SV motor/ESC is probably best kept below 17volts. Increasing the capacity of NiMH cells won't help a lot with cell temp and will do nothing for motor or ESC heat.

10000 mAh LiPos with at least 25C are wonderful cells, but they will make you problems worse, not better. You need to reduce the amp draw of your current setup - reduce prop size, free up the hull, reduce parasitic drag. A well setup SV27 will run for 5-8 minutes without excessive temperatures, so I suspect your setup is not right.

      Cheers Fluid
      What temps are people maintaining?.
I have tried a few different props, like the Graupner 48/2 and the Pranther 220 on 2*7 cell Nimh. also use GrimRacer 42*55 when running 2*6 cell Nimh. The standard 3 blade prop also works well on 7 cells. I prefer the Graump 48.

Have added Kinetic Racing's latch upgrade, water jacket, collet, thrust bearing. Offshore electrics props, left turn fin and adjustable trim tabs. I have also added a propwash pickup similar to the nitro boats (has pleanty of flow and no/ little drag)(found the rudder one not good for general sport use). I run the trim tabs at 0 and havnt touched the stinger, use the batteries to trim the boat and use a separate receiver pack that gets wedged in the bow under the foam. the boat basically rides on the prop and turn fins at WOT.

I know the Pranther 220 and Gramp 48 are alot of prop for the boat, but the motor and esc arent getting hot, just the batteries are. Are there any batteries that allow significant drain. I change to Deans connectors, Unless I import to Ausi, theres not alot of choice. Venom's are most commonly used as well as Power plus. I know they are not the best. There are some that are real expensive but a good set of Lipos are cheaper.

The boats alot of fun and something I can do with the boys when I come home from work. Just looking to have cooler batteries.

      Cheers
