    Supervee Transom mount

I was prepared to use the Dubro 1/8" landing gear mount to attach the antenna mast to the transom. But I came up with a different plan.

I unscrewed the antenna mast from the radio box lid, and used a razor saw to cut the bit of threaded plastic from the inside of the lid to create a nut. It wasn't easy to install but it worked! On the lid, I shoved a rubber servo mount grommet into the hole and then a bit of antenna tube into the grommet. There still is a bit of a gap, but I plan to use hatch tape to cover the hole.

While looking at my other Supervee, I noticed that the radio box lid was different. There is no threaded antenna mount...looks like I will have to go with the Transom mount on that one.

At any rate, does anyone see anything wrong with the way I have the antenna run?
Also, does the antenna need to stick out the end of the tube? I don't see why it would need to....but it doesn't hurt to ask.

P.S. New guy here so be easy on me
    Here's my transom mounted antenna.

I replied to your thread over on RCU.

Looks good, just re route the antenna wire and seal up that hole on the lid.

      Thanks for the reply (replies)!

I have since drilled a tiny hole in the side of the box...so I could just barely get the antenna through it. It will be less cumbersome to remove the lid now. There is still a chance for leakage though, so I may put a dab of hot glue around the hole. I should be able to peel it off easier than sealant if I need to remove the Receiver.

I just need to find a rubber plug to fit that big hole in the hatch!

seal the hole up with some epoxy.

What i do is put a piece of tape over the outside of the hull, outside as in the side of the hull that is finished/painted.
And then apply epoxy or resin to the other side of the hole, filling in the hole.
let it set up and then remove the tape

          That sounds easy enough.

But what I was thinking...was to use that hole as a drain plug. When the boat ends up inverted, rather than flipping it over to take the hatch off (and dumping water all over the place), keep it inverted and let the water drain out the hole.

If thats what you want to do, then go for it.

We usually like to get the water out of the boat as fast as possible.
That small of a hole, you may be holding the boat upside down for quite some time.

Actually, I had a chance to test the drain time today (unfortunately)!

I just used some hatch tape over the hole for now.

The boat was upside down for quite a while before I could retrieve it, and it managed to take on quite a bit of water. I think that the antenna tube acted like a straw, and sucked up the water (I have a rubber cap on the end now). Any way, the water drained in a healthy, steady stream in just a matter of seconds.

                its 5.30 am..

I just got done with this about 20 minutes ago.

Silicone job looks like a goob job.
The picture makes it look horrible.
Its not that bad. It'll do its job.

The pieces holding the antenna it self are just something i threw together that i had in my box.
