    Mash's SV27

    Hey guys,

Well I got my boat today and its awesome. I took her for a run down the lake and she ran GREAT for about 2 mins, then it stopped. I used my mini v to shunt her back in and found heaps of water inside. emptied the water out and replugged batts and she did it all over again. I'm pretty sure it only beeped 4 times not 5 every time. Anyway the stern is leaking huge amounts of water in so i'm taking her back the the shop tomorrow. spewin

    Prepping the SV

    Mash,
this is quite common, don't be put off, there is quite a lot of threahs on this forum about prepping the SV, as well at tuning for handling. Its only a couple of hours work, also make sure you use hatch tape.

You have made a good purchase, they just need a little fine tuning and they are a great boat.

    Cheers...Tim

        Mash.
Did you check inside the radio box? The receiver may be swimming in water too. Sometimes the brass nipples on the ESC cooling plates leak & flood the box. Just a thought.

Yeah I checked and did a quick pressure test and all was good. I am definately only getting 4 beeps to arm the esc and not 5 like it says it should be.
I think it was cutting out due to water getting in the batts, and doing a quick short as one nimh has condensation inside the shrinkwrapping (although not much, its still there). That same nimh isnt taking a full charge, but has 8.whatever volts so thats confusing me. Brand LRP 4000 new cells too. I'm cycling them as we speak
I'm not sure of the terminology, but its riding on its prop at full noise, good way to drain her out I know but she nearly flips lol
I'm going to bend the two rear tabs a fair bit I think to pull the nose down.

When you guys run NIMH do you run the batt more forward in the hull? I've read a million threads and half say do and half dont. I'm only after a fun boat, will not be racing as there is no club near me

you might be surprised to find out that the racing mods have little to do with speed...and a lot about stability. you see we generally run them in 4-minute heats... sv's are notorious for being hard on Nimh cells. that said; ussually if you run them w/ the aft end of the pack about even with the stock antenna location it calms the boat down quite a bit, also helps to dial out some of the steering.
Still waiting for my boat to come in.it came in

If the packs got wet, would that short them out and turn off the esc and then it turns on again after the short? Cause i'll be going along and then it just cuts out throttle but I have steering.

OK so shez all sealed up now with some silicon, there was a massive gap around where the prop shaft housing (Strut??) entered the stern between the copper tube and hull. I am actually suprised it didnt sink! i'll let it dry overnight then test her

I just tested her and she floats. no water coming onboard. off to the lake tomorrow

hey guys, well Ive been giving the SV a good workout on the lake for the past month and I must say its a awesome boat. I have just ordered a few bits for it, a Octura X642 prop for some quick speed and rooster tails, trim tab adjusters and water pickup to increase cooling by 3X (aparrently) port side turning fin and a larger motor cooling jacket.

I'm running NIMH cells and I'm finding the temps are quite good, though I am thinking about going to lipo. I'm running the stock esc and motor for now, so I was thinking just two 2s lipos, but what can the esc handle? Also my boat didnt come with any stickers, so anyone know where I can grab some?

I have had heaps of fun with this boat, and it really was money well spent.

When it was stormy the other week I went out and got air off some chop, when the boat landed, it went nose first straight under the water like a duck for about a metre!! was awesome to see when it popped up and kept going!

So i'm running lipo now and its awesome. My temps are very low, the motor/esc is cool to the touch after every run. I've been having some problems though. I've had the boat cut out while running a few times. It just "stops" in the middle of the lake, which is pretty average....
I have a feeling a little bit of water is geting to the lipos and shorting them somehow.
The lipo sheild still picks up 4 cells, but I get no arming procedure from the esc. Could this be my reciever? I have just swapped it out for a 2.4ghz airtronics, but have had 6 runs with no dramas.
Any ideas?? Oh yeah and this hull really doesnt like rough water does it...

Also an afterthought... I havent disconnected my bec as im running 4 cells, I've changed my reciever to the Airtronics MX-3 FHSS 2.4ghz.. This might be why. How many cells do you guys run for reciever packs? 5 cell nimh?

I had the same problem with my new SV cutting out and had a bad ESC. I called the company and they were awesome. They are sending me out a new ESC at no charge.
