New Beginner versus SV Set Up

Hey Ya'all Luke here from Sumter, SC...

Proud owner of a new SV 27... 'ASSUMED' it was really Ready To Run (RTR)
and went to the water... Not ready to Run is a better statement... But...
That's how I found OffShoreElectric and a very apparent wealth of information and very knowledgeable individuals...
So been a studying the forums... Sadly, I need to write more info down, as I have found myself wondering... "Now what did he say" Advise...
    Anyway...
I think I understand Center of Gravity (COG) at 8.5"... And my Nimh 6 cells must be moved forward out of the factory placed trays... Not a problem (I guess)...

My question is the neutral positions... Which I thought I understood via the manual... However, it was a tad difficult getting the rudder to neuatral and I have read to tuck it under just a little... 'ASSUME' elongate (waller) out the holes a tad... ??? ??? and I was surprised 'gently' 'bend' the strut (prop shaft)...
?: Is there a better way then 'BEND'...???
Didn't see any exit water cooling... I enlarged the pickup hole (?) and considering a pickup tube (?)
Any advice ??? I ordered a OSE motor cooler from Steven today, trim tabs etc...
He sure has helped a great deal and must get us dummies a lot...

    BUT... I am trying... "

When they say bend they are talking about bending the brass tube. The brass goes thru the strut. The bend is between the transome and strut. No need to elongate the holes. Adjust very little at a time.

What I found with my SV was when I first started driving it, the only adjustment I made was to move the batteries forward. But as time has gone on and I have become more familiar with driving the boat, I have moved the batteries back in the tray. It gets a little loose, but it goes faster and is much more challenging to drive.

As for the rest of the adjustments, I didn't change much. I have greased the drive line and changed the prop. I would suggest if you do change things, do it very slowly and don't do anything to the integrity of the hull.

THANKS ~ River Rat and mhall...

Does one take the strut off to bend, just a smidgeon, or just loosen and leave on and bend...??? ???

Interesting mhall r.e., moving batteries 'Back'... I was sure about moving them forward towards the COG... BUT, wondered WHY the designers put the trays back there in the first place... Just maybe 'they' did have the better idea/knowledge...

        Thanks again... All the Best,
        Luke

I had never driven a boat before buying this one and the speed intimidated me a little. Now that I have driven it for awhile, it's old hat and I am not nearly as nervous. You get a sense of when to go full throttle and when to let up. It's still a lot of fun and my batteries are now all the back in the battery tray.

Have fun with it. It's addicting!

Don't add a water pick up for cooling the stock setup works fine. It may be blocked somewhere or crimped. Mine was crimped where they stuffed it into the radio box. Pull the tube off the top of the rudder and shoot some water through it to check.
Get a CF45 prop it's cheap and seems to work for most setups.
Trim tab adjustement really made a big difference for me so work with that along with COG.

My water cooling system was clogged as well. One of the inlets for the cooling plates at the esc wasn't drilled completely. I just shoved a small screw driver through and it works great now.

I used a can of air to blow through the system to see if it worked.

Yes I also use a Grimm 42x55 two blade but you need to balance and sharpen. Thats why I recommended the CF45 as you are just starting out.
