bad battery s

is it just me, i bought a pair of 7 cell 3800 battery packs. TENERGY battery s, 1st run in my supervee burnt 2 cells in 1 of the packs? so i bought another battery electrifly 3600. i ran them last week fine. to day ran them and 1 cell burnt again in the TENERGY BATTERY??? they are the blue batts??? jim

The cells may have been out of balance. (different states of charge.)
Did you charge them slowly the first time .5 to 1 amp?

Congratulations... your not the first to burn up packs. Basically keeping it short....you need good packs. IB cells built flat or maybe the EP packs steve has in his store. There are some Tenergys that are OK, the Red 4500's are pretty good but dont run them to deep into there Mah, the propels work but really do not perform very good. Good packs is a must

i also have a pair of 6 cells duratrax dtx 3800s , they seem to do fine.what bout the electrifly 3600 7 cells packs?? are they any count?? but for 1 st charge is the twin peaks charger ok ?? this is all new to me but learning:)

The DTX are good packs. Not sure about that charger. Twin Peaks? or Duratrax twin pulse. Well anyway I would think almost 100% no doubt you burnt the packs up because the boat pulls way to much for those cells nevermind the chincy tab connections between the cells.

Just looked at the twin peaks charger. Looks like it can charge at 1 amp, should be ok. I am sure there are better but it should be fine. Watch your batteries when they reach full charge that they dont get to hot. Just warm there done and the charger should shut. If there getting Hot before it shuts down that is not good.

The charger is ok.
Ni-MH cells self discharge, and they do so at different rates. This will give you a pack that is out of balance.
When you get your new packs, no matter what brand, charge them at .5 to 1 amp the first time. This will bring the pack back in balance. Then charge them at 1 C (3.8 for 3800s), (3.6 for 3600s) or whatever the manufacture recommends.
It also helps to balance charge the packs periodically to keep them in balance, especially if they have been stored any length of time.

you really will want more capacity than 2100 mah.
My SV uses about 2100mah in a 5-lap heat race. That is about 2-3minutes. The Lipos you mentioned would be over discharged and likely puff in 5 laps.
