Anyone take apart one of these motors yet?

I just picked up a boat to work on and it appears it had sunk and was never cleaned out, the motor shaft is nearly froze into place and junk in the motor when I flushed it out

I need to get it apart to see if its salvagable

I can show pics but it does not look bad, what I need to see is inside, I did flush with wd40 and tons of rust came out on the rag

well I got the motor apart. There is a small 1/16" pin pressed into each end cap to retain them. Once the pin is pulled you can tap the tip of the pinion armature(stator) on the table and it will pop off the end caps

not pretty........the armature is shot rusted and checked, the can appears to be in good shape.........anyone have an armature I can BORROW

The strut is also stuck in the stinger

I can atleast hope that the esc is in working order.............

          man... that looks awful.
That is the worst sold item I have ever seen.
That being said, make sure the wires inside the can are in good shape and
that all the protective layer is intact. Also, since you have the can open, you may
wanna change the bearing as well, I am sure that they're shot as well.
On the ESC part, I would change the caps (or cap), that is probably gone.
It does look like the boat was under water for a while...

I just opened mine, and it too is looking GONE!

Between each(almost) pack the bearings had their share of gun oil.

-I have sunk it few times in sea, but after each time that has happened I have sunk the can in fresh water, then in WD40 or similiar, and after that I have blown it dry with motor cleaner.

So It is my fault, but I cant get how this is looking this bad after all I have done everything possible to this!

Even the windings (dunno the correct english term for it)came off the can on disassembly , should this be glued in?

And the weirdest thing are the bearings, neighter wil turn! -and I just came from driving it, w/o any issues or weird sounds.

It is soaking in brake cleaner atm, will post pics later.

I really cant afford a new one right now, hopefully I can just change the bearings and use it for a while.(just ordered new df 29 hull)

Any ideas against using ceramic cb bearings?
