    OSE .150 flex cable question

    Hi,

Upon fitting a new flex cable (with teflon liner) in my SV27 I find that the new cable turns with a lot more resisitance than the stock flex cable did.
Have other people had this ?
Is it recommended to just sand the prop shaft a bit ?

    Thanks for any advice.

    Regards,
    Berry

The resistance can be in the teflon or the strut bushing. You can easily remove the bushing and check the sleeve on the new shaft while not in the teflon liner. The stuffing tubes in the sv's seem to vary. Some have better bends than others. This can be causing a problem.

      Thanks for your reply Steven.
Its definately in the strut part.
I inserted both without the teflon lining and the new one is MUCH harder to turn.
How can I cure this? Sand a bit ?
Cant think of anything else really...

if the strut bushing is tight, then I would try some 'Brasso' metal polish(if you have a variable speed drill its easier...) put some metal polish in the bushing insert the shaft, turn(rotate) the shaft. this will losen up the fit.

That stuff stinks !!! Brasso gets first prize for grossing me out !
But it did the job really well !!
Really happy about how it rotates now.

            Thanks Rex !
