Airthunder is what I have, wont puff if over discharged. I never run them that low but I have once and they still kick w/o a hitch.Comment

1 week ago i tried out 2X 5000mah 25C on my stock SV. But after i connect the batt n tape my hatch i saw smoke coming out from my SV!!! I move away immediately abt 2mins later "BOOM"!!! Open my hatch n found that my radio box melt and stock ESC is burned... Anyone can let me know wat happened??? Is it because of my stock ESC cant handle the lipo?Comment

Boat hull still can be salvage, I just gotta replace the ESC and Radio box. Now considering of getting the 120A CC Hydra, Ammo 2300 for my SV. I have another question, I'll be running 2X 4S 5000mah lipo and grauper 48 prop. do I need additional BEC to run my servo? Cheers!Comment

IMO you cant go wrong with any of the enerland based packs, and as you go up in voltage paired with a lower kv motor' amperage output gets less important. your motor will draw a certain amout of watts and if you have a higher voltage the demand for amperage becomes lowerComment

sweetride4me.
Here's the specs on the ESC. Hope it helps a bit.
Length: 2.76" (70mm)
Width: 1.30" (33mm)
Height: .39" (10mm)
Weight: 1.76oz (50g)
Input Voltage: 6-12 cells NiCd/NiMH
2-4 cells LiPo
(20V input w/o BEC)
Output Current: 45A continuous maximum
50A surge maximum
Max Output Power: 500 watts
On-resistance: .008 ohms
Operating frequency: 8.5kHz
BEC: 5V/2A
Low Voltage Cutoff: Battery voltage x .67
Thermal Cutoff: 230°F (110°C)
Timing Angle: 12°
Brake: ON/OFF
Coolio.
Were those two 5000 Lipopacks 2s or 4s, & were they connected in series or parallel when you fried the ESC?
If they were the 4s packs you mentioned in your second post & you plugged them into the stock connectors on the ESC then the 30 odd Volts is probably what fried the poor thing.
Please tell me I'm wrong.
Cheers.

Is that what you plugged into the ESC with the stock harness? I'd bet that's what happened.1 week ago i tried out 2X 5000mah 25C on my stock SV. But after i connect the batt n tape my hatch i saw smoke coming out from my SV! 2mins later "BOOM"!!! Anyone can let me know wat happened??? Is it because of my stock ESC cant handle the lipo?

I'll be running 2X 4S 5000mah lipo and grauper 48 prop.
2 x 4S batteries in series is waaaay too much voltage. So effectively you ran 8S on that ESC.I have seen it done many times, and accidentally done it myself as well...poof!

2 x 4S should be paralleled in an SV, not in series. Then you'd have 10,000mah at 14.8 V...the only problem with that is that you are adding weight and runtime which will cause heat...especially with the 48mm prop.
5000mah is plenty of capacity, so that's why most run 2 x 5000mah 2S in series.
the Ammo will burn quickly with a CF48 and won't take 8S either (neither will the Hydra120). I believe it (the Ammo2300) will also burn quickly on 4S with a 48mm prop.Comment
