    Bath tub test

Hi! I did bath tub tests on my SV. The last test was about an hour. Each test they were bone dry. But each time I make a run, it accumulates water. Can anyone please tell me what could be wrong.

probably nothing... it comes in thru the shaft.
happens to me as well... different hull though.
How long do you hold it under water?

I hold it underwater only about 8 minutes. I don't want to over heat the motor.

        over heat the motor?
how are you doing that by holding the... never mind, I think you are kidding.

well, 8 mins is PLENTY of time to see if there is a leak, there aren't any bubbles
coming up as it is submerged, right? The suspect is probably the shaft then...

          Bath tub test

Sorry! What I meant is that I run the boat in the lake for only 8 minutes. After the run I can see water inside the boat. Thats why I was wondering why there's water, when I do a tub test its very dry. Yes you're right. It must be the shaft. Any advise on what to do.

what we usually do to help (not solve) is get a piece of fuel line (silicone tubing)
and place it on the stuffing tube and the flex shaft (kinda like an extension of the stuffing tube). Make sure it's just snug and not tight.
There isn't a "cure" per say for that... specially in the smaller boats... as long as it is just a tiny little bit and not a puddle you'll be fine. is there a radio box or a balloon around your receiver?

is your hatch tapped? if not water will flow over the stern onto the hatch when the boat slows down and it will get in thru there.

Yes the hatch must be taped but the cooling system can leak when the boat is moving that you wouldn't notice at rest in the bath. I bet thats it. I also run a full length of teflon inside the stuffing tube and propery lube the flex cable. never had a drop inside yet.
