    SV flex cable removal

Hi! Can someone please tell me on how to remove or slide out the drive cable. I tried removing the cable by loosening first the cable coupler but I can't pull it out. It seems that I need some experts to tell me in detail on how to get it out.
    Thanks!

Just loosen the coupler and pull it out. Depending on how tight the couple was on the cable and the length of time sice it was last removed it may be a little tight or stuck inside the coupler. Just give the prop end a good yank and it should slip on out.

Twist the cable when pulling or you will loosen the wind of the cable. Rotate it clockwise to keep tension in the correct direction.

The motor is not aligned well with the stuffing tube on most SV's. You might want to try some needle nose plyers on the cable near the coupler 1st. Just to start it out with out pulling on the whole cable.

When removing the flex cable, do we have to remove also the propeller and the drive dog?

answer to post #5 no, the prop/drive dog can stay right where they are.
if the stuffing tube is mis-aligned it will make removing the flex quite difficult...if so you may need a friend to hold the boat while you yank .
Still waiting for my boat to come in.it came in

Is it necessary to remove the radio box when removing the flex cable? For flex cable maintenance, which is better to use, the grease or oil?

No, you don't remove the radio box. The drive cable should slip out with the prop and dog drive. I use the Aquacraft grease for the shaft. Tends to stick better in the wet enviornment.
