    lipo advice

    Hi guys

I intend to run lipo batts but require some advice. I've read the threads on lipo batts and it seems you guys run in two ways, either use a lipo sheild/cutoff or bring the boat in before the batts drop below 3 volts. I am planning to us two 2S
5300 batts with the stock motor and ESC. To help me decide which way to go my questions are, how do you calculate when to bring the boat in, when not using a cutoff device so you do not drop below 3 volts, when it does cut out does it lose complete power. I do not fully understand the cutoff device, can it be fitted to the stock set up. If so can you point me in the direction of a website. The lipo batts cost £53 ($106) here in the UK and I dont want to destroy them on the first outing.

    Thanks for your replies.

A lipo cutoff or LVC ( Low Voltage Cutoff) will shut off the motor or slow it to a crawl depending on the unit used and normally will leave you with just enough to get back to shore.
Some time their boats and observe the power loss and use that as a basis for bringing in the boat
Me..I use the LVC as a back up and bring the boat in the second I see a significant decrease in power

Can a seperate LVC be fitted into the existing stock wiring circuit.
