Both boats are alot of fun in rough water. A few months ago, my buddy had his sv, I had my BJ and we were playing on a day with waves of about 10-12". the boats had alot of air time and upside down time as well. But the wind was blowing so hard the boats were back into shore in a matter of minutes.
im kind of leaning toward the blackjack... i im just using it for cruising around and i think the wider stance and more stability would be better for me
traditionally a deep v haul is more stable than a catamaran in the ruff water. but i have also heard that the bj is more stable. So take it for whats its woth.
I also have a BJ26 and don get me wrong the BJ26 is sweet, however "out of the Box" i believe the Sv27 is a little better package, there are a couple of mods that the bj26 need to make it a really great boat, ( IE, removing batt trays, Installing offset rudder ect) but the sv27 Needs nothing, but i believe that the BJ ESC is better and programable. Hope that confused you a little more
Out of the box my BJ has been much more enjoyable. The SuperFLip 27 that I own has taken me hours to get water ready, it leaks terribly, the paint quality is very poor w/ paint runs all over the hull and the nose was white(lack of green). I've had to rip out battery trays(like everyone else), I've added a port side fin, the stock prop was a joke because of cavitation. I cant say I know FE quility as these are the only two REAL boats that I've owned, but I can say my BJ is a much more quality product than my SV27, the only thing I've done to the BJ is put a 40x53 prop on it and I love it. FYI, I'm not a racer, just a basher. ALso, I still dont take my SV out unless the water is very calm.
