Traxxas VXL Brushless in a SV?

Just curious if you guys think it MIGHT work....putting the traxxas vxl brushless system in a boat?

Here are the specs of the ESC:

    VXL-3s ESC SPECIFICATIONS
    Input voltage: NiCad/NiMH 4-9 Cells
    (4.8 to 10.8 Volts DC)
Input voltage: LiPo 2-3 Cells (7.4 to 11.1 Volts DC)
    Case Size: 39mmW x 55mmD x 33mmH
    Weight: 90 grams
    Motor Limit: None
    On Resistance Forward: 0.00075 Ohms
    On Resistance Reverse: 0.00075 Ohms
    Peak Current - Forward: 320A
    Peak Current - Reverse: 320A
    Braking Current: 320A
    Continuous Current: 200A
    BEC Voltage: 6.0V
BEC Current: 2.5A (with 6-cell NiMh)
Power Wire: 12 Gauge Maxx® Cable
    Input Harness Wire: 26 Gauge / 100mm
    Transistor Type: MOSFET
Low Voltage Detection: Auto-detect (2-S or 3-S Lipo),
    2-Stage indicators, switchable
    (on or off)
    Thermal Protection: 2-Stage thermal shutdown

    And the motor:
    Velineon 3500 Features

    - Ultra high-temperature sintered Neodymium magnets provide massive torque and linear power
    - Optimized for power and efficiency in 1/10th scale vehicles
    - Consistent, high-power output, run after run
    - Low-maintenance, unique Traxxas design
    - Efficient, high-speed ball bearings
    - Low maintenance design
    - Precision-balanced rotor
    - Solder tabs
    - Protective end cap
    - 10-Turn, 3500kV
    - Rebuildable
    - Hex hardware
    - Brilliant blue-anodizing finish
    - Silicon steel laminations
    - Delivers more power than comparable brushed motors

I know this idea is a little out there but I have one already, and would be tempted to put it in a SV.

Figure could hookup the water cooling to the motor easily, and maybe some creativity could keep the esc cool.

Do you guys think it would work? Is this even enough power for a boat?

not out there at all IMO...

a high torque 3500 kv brushless motor, a programable 200 amp esc with a built-in [fan port] for adding fan cooling...

i run this system on [2s] in a stock Traxxas Stampede and beat on it bad and it comes back for more!

in the right [N-2] mono or sport hydro hull, i have no doubt it can get the job done for sport fun on a pond near you

Best part is I am pretty sure the ESC is "water resistant" so with a little work things might turn out pretty good...atlease the VXL has thermo protection so I could worry less about that any keep an eye on the motor

I looked at those same specs and though of running a Neu 1515 1D(4100kv) on 2 3s in parallel according to claims the esc can handle 200 amps continuously...this is not a bad price for the kit http://cgi.ebay.com/Traxxas-Velineon...QQcmdZViewItem

Think this system would be too much in an SV? I am tempted to try it out because I wouldn't have to buy another lipo!

N-2 Sport Hydro is where i'd start with this power system to test it's rc boating capabilities...

            on [2s] in one of Steven's new 23 7/8" sport hydro's turning a X440... or perhaps in a Vac-U-Pickle...

if you go mix'n and match'n motors and try use'n [3s] off the bat with this esc you might be rolling the $$$$ dice...

be prudent till more info. is in on this power system...

            that's my 2 cents...

              I wouldn't try that motor w/ a 440...432 maybe. consider, that motor at 1st glance has similar specs as a feigao 540 10s. if one were to run it with a gearbox it might work in a sv, I would think a 25" boat would be pushing its limits on direct drive. note;
I waqs told that novak does NOT reccomend their bl car motors for marine(boat) use.
Still waiting for my boat to come in.it came in

Do u think it would be crazy to try this set up with a direct drive on 3s?

I have this ESC and motor in my HPI and Traxxas trucks. The esc is not very water resistant. I have no idea how you would adequately cool it. I am running 2S in the trucks and it gets pretty warm. I dont think its gonna last in a SV. I have 2 SV's but didnt feel like wasting this ESC combo just to find out it couldnt handle it. For the price why not just get of the Traxxas system why not just go Hydra 120 and Feiago XL. Just a thought.

i've been wanting to try one on 2s in a Vac-U-Pickle anyway...

the esc has a built-in power port for a Traxxas accessory cooling fan...

i'll let you know how it goes...

I use the traxxas motor in my crackerbox with a mamba max esc, with a maxamps 4000 2 cell lipo and a silicone waterjacket on a x430 prop, and the motor don't even get warm. Its not really fast with that prop, but it has great run time.
