sv27 ......pics of your electrics layout please

came to finally instaling my esc,rx,liposhield but im not sure on how to mount the stock esc as the heatsink stops me from sticking it to the side of the rudder servo mount.

ive looked at diesels pics from his album and noticed he has taken the stock esc heatsink off but still has watercooling coming from it which i dont understand how?
also its a pain bcoz with the liposhield i have extra wires that just look messy, tbh just wish ide bought a better 60A esc

any pics or tips you guys can give would be great

This is how I stuck it all in there. Used a good loop of velcro to actually mount the esc in there. My liposhield fits inside the waterproof receiver box along with the receiver. Not sure if that was installed at the time of these pictures or not though. It wasn't much extra wiring though.

Forgot to ask if you have the stock radio box in there or not?
I opted for the kintec wood plate w/servo mount to make things easier to get at.

Just run the wires from the liposhield right along with the signal wire to the rx. I tapped my liposhield wires into the power wires of the ESC closer to where they come out of the esc, not at the battery ends of the wires, so maybe that helped with routing my wiring a little easier. Did you tap in by the esc, or at the battery connections?

Mount the liposhield itself near the rx and bundle whatever extra wires you got in between there. If you can use a waterproof receiver box like in my sv27, it helped with the neatness a lot in my build (not to mention great protection for the rx & liposhield - no need to worry about waterproofing the liposhield then). I got a 2nd box for my next build as well.

          Alright lee,

Don't think diesel removed the heat sink, just painted it black!

the cooling tubes hold the esc in place if you get them the right length.. also you can tuck some wires under the servo
and maybe even under the kintec wooden plate.

You shouldn't need any waterproof boxes inside, tape the hatch always and make sure no water comes in from the trimtab fixings etc...
Then your boat is one whole waterproof box!
I will get some pics of my setup soon mate

By the way, what 60amp esc did you get? i've orderd the seaking 60amp from kintec... i'm hoping its going to be ok!

I haven't had a blowover bad enough to pull a taped hatch off, but I know it can happen. While I agree with you that a waterproof receiver box is not necessary, i'm still going to use them when I can & would recommend it to anyone who values their electronics. Crashes happen too, and no amount of sealing a hatch will keep the inside of your boat dry when your hatch or hull cracks open.

Atleast soak any non-waterproof electronics in Corrosion-X or maybe plasti-dip them if you can.

I'm also not too fond of the idea of using the cooling tube itself to keep the esc in position. Again, with how crazy these boats can get on rough water and the occasional blowover, I can't help but imagine the esc pulling loose from one of the cooling lines - and that of course could leave you blowing an esc or a motor with no water cooling, or at the very least a hull full of water (thus negating that "boat is one whole waterproof box!" idea altogether)

Perhaps I'm a bit overcautious... but I'd like to take the least amount of chances & keep as much of my equipment as safe as possible. I won't recommend anything less to others either. This stuff ain't cheap!

I agree with you on many of your points there midnightsabotage,

You can never be too careful, I only run my boat on calm days and I have spayed all the electronics with inox anti corrosion.
I got the kintec upgrade latch and always tape it real well, and as an extra precaution I run my boat close to my jetty so i can be out there an rescue it in
under 30 seconds. I know any of this won't help if it has a superflip and cracks in half but I don't think that'll happen, but thats just my opion.

And you are right its not good to reccomend shortcuts to other people, especially if they happen to be the unlucky one one that has that "superflip"

              Happy boating mate

Could you please take some measurements of the stringers for me. My sv27 is a empty shell now and I can't find the measurements of the stringers or the placement of the motor mount.
                          Thanx
