stock rx explode why

I was just wondering what would cause the stock rx to explode?

Let's see, spraying it with ether and a spark? Packing the case with black powder and applying a match?

Seriously, the most likely part is the BEC circuit. What happened?

I took the boat today did a few laps then bang the hatch blew off and it sound like a gun going off. When I got the boat back the rx casing was off and it was on the outside of the hull. Nothing was very hot (motor esc) I just don't know
