    Polished the SV hardware

Polished up the hardware on the new SV from Tiqueman, new method, works great and is much easier than my old way.
A dilute phosphoric acid solution removed the anodizing, anywhere you leave grease or anything isn't touched.
A few grades of wet or dry paper used wet then polishing with a felt wheel on the dremel with 3m polishing compound from an auto parts store.
    Also my thoughts on winter!

Looks quite nice Mark. Any more pics on what youve done to it. And did you get the decals in the hardware package I sent?

Yep and thanks Thought I mentioned that I'm locked into the cat Amsoil cat! LOL
WOW picky about the SV stuff, I thought this was about polishing hardware, shouldn't have mentioned it was on a SV.
Too bad it got buried here, phosphoric acid works great to remove anodizing without a ton of sanding.

LOl Im just curious as to if you were modding it out to make it go like heck or leaving it stock. I hear that oven cleaner strips it as well, but havent tried it. Regardless, what youve done looks very nice.

if you get a couple of buffing wheels and a 1750 rpm buffer you can get the hardware to look like chrome you need to look into the green cut polishing compound as well rim polish is a bit abrasive for our uses.

I'm leaving this one stock, a bunch of stock ones around here to run against.
I could have polished it farther but I couldn't really be bothered, It begins to oxidize anyway unless you clear coat it or give it a polish every once and a while.
I don't use the rim polish, it's actual grades of polishing compound for finishing auto paint jobs.
I use it for the final finishing on guitars, wet sand, polish then buff. Usually use nitro lacquer but have used 2 part urethane on a couple of electrics.
I just thought the silver hardware would look good with the silver Amsoil paint.
I might give anodizing a try this summer, then I'd dye it black before sealing the parts.
The phosphoric acid is probably far less nasty then the oven cleaner or lye method. Easily available at good garden shops, they use it to adjust the ph of fertilizer solutions.
The only actual mod I did was to cut the stuffing tube at the back of the boat and use a couple of Octura 3/16 lead teflon bushings in the stinger instead of the brass bushing. This makes stinger adjustment a lot easier! Should come from the factory this way, and with the trim tab adjusters!
Got a few props to try on it. The ones around here are all running the GrimRacer props, I've got some Octuras in the right size range.
Hope to be able to hit the water in a few weeks, parts of the river have opened up but the bays will be ice filled for a while yet.
A couple new electrics to hit the water and finish tuning my nitro wildthing, it only got one run last year before winter.
And get a new Nova Rossi .12 for my JAE rigger!
Been a good winter building season.

              Looks real nice man!
I remember back when i polished my SV hardware.
Ended up looking terrific on the back of the boat i can tell you that.

Did mine with sand paper, micro fiber towels and Mothers NXT polish.

Looks great! I put a mirror finish on my little rigger parts, looks mean!
That green would make a nice base for a Buffalo Airways theme! Not quite the right green but close enough. Ice Pilots has become one of the few shows I watch on T.V.
Love the big old prop driven transports he flies. I've spent some time up there, awesome country! LOL Ended up bringing a husky pup home!
