    Kintec Upgrade Shaft Question

Got my new Kintec shaft today, with the teflon lining, and I'm wondering... Do I put grease on both the inside and outside of the tube?

Just the inside. Although if it is a little tight fitting it in the stuffing tube, a little grease can help there also.

Thanks! I just figured it out and I feel kinda dumb. Haha I got the Teflon in and it's looking good. I had to take out the old lining from the tube, I didn't know it was there and I was wondering why I couldn't get the new one in.

One more question... On the upgrade shaft there are 2 nuts. I bought the shaft along with the brass bullet nut and I'm wondering if I should also put the smaller nut before it. Seems like a good thing to do just in case the bullet nut somehow comes off.

Use loc-tite to assure the nut or bullet nut is on good. I have done it both ways, depending on the situation.

Loc-rite sounds like a good idea. Red, right?

So would you recommend using just the bullet nut or with the smaller nut?

I use red. I gets it "free" from work lol. If their a enough thread for the bullet to securely push on the prop thats fine, if their is to much room and the bullet nut bottoms out without pushing against the prop then I use the normal nut, or a combination of both, I just think the bullets look bad ass lol.

Yeah the bullet nuts are awesome! I have the red loctite, but it's really strong. I can pick up some blue loctite if it's better. I'll see how the nuts fit on later with the prop. If I use the red loctite will it be difficult to change the prop in the future?

Thanks for the help, and I'll let you know how the boat does tomorrow :)

I've used the red for almost a year and have had no problems changing props.

Alright, sounds good. I just put the red on it and tightened it on. Should be good to go!

If you have a problem removing screws or nuts that have had a thread locker (red or blue) applied just use some heat. It will soften it enough for you to be able to remove the hardware. I do it to all the set screws on my couplers and drive dogs. But I like to use the blue myself.
