Alternative hardware on SV27?

I just got an SV27 Hull from a buddy but with no hardware other than the trim tabs and turn fins (well it had a rudder but I am not going to use it) and I was wondering if there are any guys out there running hardawre other than the Stock SV27 stuff.

I only ask because I have a rudder and strut that I got out of the swap shop that I was going to use on another project but now this hull has peeked my intrest so I am thinking of using it on the SV27 hull.

I use the stock rudder and stock turn fin, but I upgraded the trim tabs. I got the OSE ones, and they're great since you just dial in your adjustments with the screws and they stay like that. The stock ones you will notice tend to wear out if you adjust them too much. JMO.

the strut I am using is slight longer than the stock SV27 unit and I have the rudder that is matched to that strut. Also I think someone used this as a replacment hull as the rudder was mounted on the transom cockeyed. But honestly the real reason is because I accidnetly got some epoxy on the rudder,s pivot shaft and she dont' rotate so good anymore. Another reason would be the sturt I have is anodized purple and the blue rudder just wouldn't match......I'm all about hood rides but you have to draw the line somewher (joking a little here).

I have not seen a sv with a longer one yet. But I can't think of eny reason why not; or you could post on swopshop that you are looking for a used standerd sv rudder,Good luck]

Appreciate it....by the way that clean looking SV in your profile pic...the hull I got is also green. I think what I have will work out just trying to figure out how to set up right. I'm being ultra cheap on this build....Kind of challenged myself to build a decently fast SV for under $100. So far through some extremetly good friends and same selective swapshop buys I think I will get there. Got the hull out of a trade for some hardware I had left over from a previous build and other old school boats that have been in the attic. Got the strut and rudder off swapshop for $30 I think. This is were it gets kind of strange...buddy game me traxxas velineom brushless motor and VXL-3 ESC. Going to run a 3S2P lipo setup (some batteries I already for another boat I am working on). I will probably cook the motor and maybe the ESC both but I am hoping with some decent water cooling on the motor and backyard engineered cooling sytem for the ESC that I might be ok. I'll try to get some pics of the build up soon if anyone is intrested. Any feedback is appreicated.

Got her built....taking her out tonight...to see how she does.

Well I just got through getting her built.....callind it the BAS%^$ Child. Ive attached some pics of it turned out. Salvaged the stock rudder and realized it was just out of adjustment in the stock location. Put a silicon water jacket on the motor that my buddy gave me to use. Added some water cooling to the VLX3S contoller. Staring off with a X640 prop since only thing I have laying around. Going to some quick short burst run and monitor motor/esc temps. Should be intresting...a wild ride or up in flame sinking

I am incredibly impressed with how well she runs....she flipped a couple of times. Motor and ESC are staying nice and cool. I was only running a x640 so I think I might try a x642. Need to put some better/heavier batteries in it I think. Also looks like I damaged the rudder tonight. Cam loose and dinged the prop and put a nice little bend in the rudder....may have hit a turtle or something. If I had to guess i would say mid 40's. Not bad for a boat I put together with very little money it.
