    fixing trim tabs

I was lookin g my boat over today while adding the port side fin and found out that the port side trim tabs were higher the starboard side. Has anyone had this happen to them or am I just the lucky winner?
Also while adding the port side fin I had to bore out it out the screw plate was had the holes off.

Could you post a picture so we can help you better.

Now when you say higher, are they mounted higher on the transome or sticking up higher?
If all of your wishes are granted, many of your dreams will be destroyed!

If you loosen the screws that hold the trim tabs to the transom there is a little play that will allow you to set them so the leading edges of the bottoms of the tabs are dead even (flush) with the bottom of the hull. For starters, use a straightedge along the bottom of the hull and adjust (bend) the tabs so they follow the line of the bottom. Sort of like they are extensions of the hull.

Once they're set to neutral, you can bend each of the tabs to get the boat to run how you want. Be careful though, bending a tab just 1 or 2 degrees can have a big effect.

I had the same problem with mounting port turn fin. The problem is poor quality control at the factory. I sent Aquacraft an email about it last year. Never heard from them. They probably just ignored it.

I may be able to shed a little light on why that is....these boats turn faster to the right...because the prop turns to the left....I run a SV 27 nitro and a Miss Vegas hydroplane. I have done a lot of reserch and found out why AQ did not put a port turn fin on the ealier SV 27's FE. But they listened to the customers and found they were turning fast to the left...so they added it to the nitro version and I belie now to the 27r....the bolt that held mine on had stripped out so I took it off cause it was on the boat loose. Ran it fine with no problems turning to the left. Then I put it back on and noticed it hitting the water at right turns...causing more drag....so I took it back off and I don't miss it at all. I just don't turn to the left at full speed. And the trim tabs may have been set higher by design to keep it out of the water during right turns....which is how a lot of these boats race.

Mine looks to be a little higher also...you probably can't tell from the pic. And I have the adjustable trim tabs from OSE which are SUPERB....my bow stays firmly planted going straight and in right or left turns.
