    Hull Repair and upgrade

So my hull split along the seam and I need to either repair it or replace it. I amd going to go down the cheap route first and try to repair it with fiberglass and epoxy and a new coat of paint. My questions are as follows...

Do I need to remove the brass tube that is glued in place? Sorry for not knowing the correct name but it's where the prop haft rides and it's glued in place. Should I just cover it with tape during my painting step?

If I order a new hull, does it come with this tube glued in place and are the holes for all the transom pieces pre-drilled?

Is there a better aftermarket piece that mounts the radio tray and motor mount to the hull? Something perhaps made out of fiberglass, carbon fiber, or aluminum?

    Thanks in advance.

You can just tape it up. I would just fix it. Even a new hull will do this again. Once properly reinforced it will be solid as any other hull out there. you can always remove the ply and add thicker or something stronger. You could also take everything out and start from scratch. It's all up to what you want to do.

I use Hawaii Fiberglass Marine Epoxy because its localy available here. Others have used Pacer z-poxy and MAS systems. It's up to you. Carbons nicer and stronger but harder to work with.

Fiberglass it from the inside. The brass tube is called the stuffing tube.
You can get an aftermarket tray at kintec racing. http://kintecracing.com/Supervee_27_upgrades.html

Or you can build your own tray and call it your own simply by making a trip to hobby lobby or the local hobby store.

Pick up a piece of plywood and get at it.
