    Stock SV27 with LiPos

Just wanna make sure before I do something wrong...

Can the stock SV27 handle 2 Turnigy 2s 5000mah 40c batteries? I have these batteries and everything ready (boat water tight, balanced). I hope it works!

Run a lipo shield. Although it is not required to run lipo's on your boat it offers protection to your lipo's by not allowing them to be over-discharged. Time your runs keep it between 3-5ms, I usually run 3-4ms. What prop you using?

Good choice on both. My favorite prop for the SV is a grim 42x55. Make sure you read how to properly install that shield, theirs been a few guys who have it installed it reversed in the past.

I ordered it with the Deans Plugs pre-soldered, since I'm not too good at that. I'm guessing it's on the right way. I like the prop, and the 42x55 is also a great one from what I've heard. So, with my setup, will everything work alright?

Is that prop sharpend and balanced? When you buy them they say they are close on the box, but they still require to be s&b'd.

Yes it will. Seems like you read what you needed and you should be fine. Start practicing soldering, it is a skill you have to have in RC. It will make your life a lot easier. Go to home depot or lowes grab a soldering kit and start practicing. Down the line you will want to get rid of those deans (They will hold you back). I have seen some of the 3.5mm motor to esc connectors de-solder when running lipo's. It didn't happen to me though and I ran the same lipo's you have on stock power. You should hit high 30s with your set-up 37mph-39mph. I would read the other threads about fixing handling and flipping. Like rounding your rudder and tucking it under your boat (negative) helps a lot and make sure you got your trim tabs nice and neutral. Invest in some aftermarket trim tabs, I run these. Did you get your lipo shield from Jan over at Kintec? I know he had the pre-soldered ones.

I didn't balance it, but yes it said that it was balanced on the box. I should probably invest in a balancing tool, and yes I will learn to solder soon. The thing is, I'd rather have someone else do it right than thinking I did something wrong. Haha.

I know there are restrictions with the Deans, but I think I should be good for now. Maybe somewhere down the road when I really need to I'll change them.

I'm just glad to know that I'm good to go. Thanks a lot!

Just don't stick the prop on the boat though until you get it balanced. Like said the box says it is close, but trust me they need to be sharpend and balanced. If you just stick it on now your going to do some damage and the boat will not run correctly. Chuck here on the forum does some GREAT work. He did some of my Grim blades for me, he did my 42x55 and my l40x57. You can reach him here http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...488#post227488. If you want to run ASAP grab some CF props from here at OSE (CF42 & CF45) and run those until you get that thing s&b'd.

Oh I didn't know about that. I've been using it that way for a while now, just with NiMH batteries and not lipos. I have the prop on it now with the bullet nut on the end. I guess I'll have to send it in to that guy. If I order one of those props from OSE will I have them by next weekend? Sucks cause the season is almost over! Are those props good quality and will they run fast?

Order tonight and you should have them mid week. Steve's shipping is fast as hell. Yea not good to use that prop unsharpend and unbalanced. Can lead to excessive heat and wear on drive components. Here's the CF prop section. I like them for testing a new set-up. I have the CF40 thru the CF48. For you a CF42 and a CF45 (check the runtime with the 45mmprop) should work just fine. I like them. Their good for your setup until you get the prop you need sharpend. I like them and have run them many times. They will work perfect for what you need them for.

Didn't see you asked before, but yes, I got the LipoShield from Jan at Kintec.

I took a look at the props, and I also noticed that OSE has a section with balanced props. I don't think they have the one I need, so I was wondering if there was any other place I could order the 42x55 already balanced? Or maybe one of the available ones from OSE will work as well?

Of course if not, I can just get the CF blades and run it with those until I get a balanced 40x52 prop.

Talk to Chuck, he can order the 42x55 for you sharpen and balance it then send it to you. The quicker you send him your prop the quicker you will get it back. If OSE is out, I would just go to Chuck then. You can also order the 40x52 they have already s&b'd and sell the raw one you have on here.

Alright, what I'll do for now is I'll get the 40x52 balanced from OSE, along with the new trim tabs and 2.4ghz radio, and then I'll sell my current prop to whoever's interested. I think i'll stick with this one for now, and then I'll get the 42x55 someday. Is there really that much of a difference?

I'll definitely talk to Chuck if I get a 42x55.

I feel that the boat gets on plane quicker and has a little more top end with the 42x55. Both a very good props though!

Oh alright. Well, I'll get that eventually but for now I'll stick with this as I think it's good enough for me.

I was really eager to run my boat today, but unfortunately one of my LiPo's turns out to be broken, so now I have to look for another one somewhere. I got those from hobby king and I bought them a while ago but haven't run my boat with them. So I can't return it. Now I'm just gonna buy another pair from my LHS if they have them. Unless you know of another place I can get similar batteries and have them by next week?
