    ESC/Motor acting strange this weekend

Ran my Supervee on 2 consectutive ~7-10 minute runs this past weekend. Towards the end of the second run, the boat started acting up. At first the motor cut out and would not run at all when pulling the throttle. Then 20 seconds later when pulling the throttle it would beep three times like it was arming the ESC. Likewise it would beep 3 times again when pushing the throttle backwards, again like it was arming the ESC, but the motor would not run. Then all of a sudden the motor would run about 1/2 speed without pulling the throttle at all. Kind of dangerous as the boat could have just taken off across the lake. (Lake Tahoe is 20 miles long and 12 miles wide so that was a potential large problem) Then the motor stopped and then about 20 seconds later the throttle did work but only for a minute or so. All throughout this time the rudder was working fine which helped control the damn thing.

Using dual Nimh 5000Mah batteries with stock ESC and motor. Water flow on the cooling looked fine and nothing was really hot at all. Does anyone have any ideas on why the boat would act like this?

Any help on debug would be appreciated.

    Thx,

    Marc

Had a similar problem awhile back, check your connections. My issue was with the motor to esc connection. many need to upgrade your connectors, worked for me and no issues since.

7-10 mins is too much run time , sounds like thermal cut off was kicking in on the ESC or your bullet connectors got hot , try shorter run times 3-4 mins , you will kill your nimh's with long run times !!!

Does the stock ESC have a thermal cut off? I know there is no LVC but not sure about her thermal cut off.

After a bit of research it a ELECTRIFLY esc with AQ water cooling plates on it...... It does have thermal cut off

Here is a link for the specs of that ESC http://manuals.hobbico.com/gpm/gpmm1...anual-v1_2.pdf
