I am new to rc boat i have been into cars and truck for awhile now but, I just want to know what a good setup would be ie what batts to run is there any thing i need to add to the boat oh and a good lipo charger that won't break the bank

I'm pretty new as well.
You can read a lot in the SV section of the forum.
I know the Turnigy Accucel8 is a good charger and that you want to spend a little more on your charger so they charge faster and will be worth it in the long term. I think it's about 120 or so. The Hyperion changer is good also.
I think running your boat 4S with two 2S lipos is best so you have some good speed while you learn to drive.
You also need to get an inflatable, cheap air raft or a rescue boat, or a fishing rod to pull your SV out when it flips.
Stay close to the bank when you run it. I've already had to go swimming once into the middle of my pond and it's dangerous and scary.
Your center of gravity is very important instead of pulling your trim tabs down - ideally, you have neutral trim tabs that are flush with the bottom of the boat, but a little trim tab may be needed. If you have your COG right, your SV will skip, but stay level instead of flipping backwards.
I really like having the port side turn fin.
I love the Octura x642 prop on mine and the grim Racer 42x55, but the X642 got my stock SV up to 43 mph.
If you buy a metal prop you must have it sharpened and balanced. Pay for your first one and later you can start learning to do youself.
as with any hobby, give yourself time to absorb everything and learn lots before just throwing motors and power at your SV.
I've had mine for 2 months and replace the motor with a Feigao 11xl 1577KV, Seaking ESC 120A and i'm regularly getting over 55mph running 6s.
Big tip here! Unless you just want to burn up your stock motor and ESC, do not run 6S lipo on your SV. You must have a larger speed controller and a higher rpm motor.
Good rule to follow is keep you motor rpm around 30,000. You do this by multiplying the total voltage of your lipo cells by the motor KV rating.
A cheap infrared temp (~$20) is worth buying to monitor how hot your motor is running and ESC. A few things to add to the above post is when running higher voltage you want a lower KV motor. Also for a good cheap but effective charger to get started with try this to get you started. First let's focus on running stock before we start upgrading items. Some good things to get you started would be to read as much in the sv section as you can. When you first get your boat don't just put it in the water check everything out. Make sure all the screws on the hardware are tight, grease the shaft with some high quality grease (grimracer grease is great) &
+ make sure the cooling system works (I remove the hose from the rudder and blow through it and make sure I can feel air coming out the outlet) remove the battery trays and and I also removed the battery box and added a piece of wood and servo mount. First upgrades you should make are to the trim tabs, cooling jacket and props. The CF are a great cheap upgrade over the stock prop until you get a metal prop sharpened & balanced. A digital temp gauage is a must have. With the CF 45 watch the temps. Always get into a habit of timing your runs 3-5ms.
Lipos would be the ideal choice but with lipos (and any battery) you need understanding, knowledge and respect. Read as much info on lipos as possible start here. The stock esc is not lipo ready meaning it does not have protection against lipos over draining. Unlike nimh/nicad you NEVER draing them empty so with that being said invest in a lipo shield to run with the stock esc. Work on getting your set-up right. A stock esc properly set-up on lipo's can run high 30s low 40s if done correctly.

You will plug those both into. The stock esc has a jumper that connects both connectors, the jump creates a series circuit. In a series circuit voltage is added so you will put 2 7.4 lipos in the boat for a total of 14.8 volts. If you re-wired and only ran 1 battery it would only be 7.4 volts and would not function. Please remember to time your runs and to add the lipo shield so you don't over discharge those batts. Happy Boating and enjoy your SV.Comment
