    OMG! LiPo's are incredible!

Just got back from running LiPos for the first time! Turnigy 5000mAh 2S 20C

Unreal how fast now! And ran for 15 minutes until it got too dark.

    Just a few questions.

    - Motor got pretty hot. I'm running a Grim 42x55 and stock otherwise. I could only keep my finger on it for 1-2 seconds. Maybe need to upgrade my cooling sleeve?

    - Do I need to do anything with my speed controller to set it for LiPo's? I had a long series of beeps when I first turned it on and took some time to get the 4 beeps.

    - I need a LiPo protector I suppose. I ran the cells down to 3.78 or so and they were 4.2 when charged. I know you should not run these below 70%.

15ms is a LONG time. Cut the run time down to 5-7ms WOT. If you are using the stock sleeve update to better one and open the pickup hole in the rudder with a small rat file. All that should help. Also invest in a digital pocket thermometer and a lipo shield. Your long series of beeps had nothing to do with the lipo's something with your throttle settings was off for a second.

Yes you will need a LVC or you will damage your new batteries. As for things getting hot 15 min run time is very long 5 to 7 min run time is the norm understand that under a load those batteries fell way below 3.7 volts be careful. With the LVC installed you wont get that kind of run time. Is the new prop your running Sharped and Balanced if not you should get it done for sport running I like a X440 motor and ESC run much cooler with that prop. Good Luck

I've never used that prop, but I hit 51 with an x642 running 6S. I learned finally with my SV that getting your COG right is best so you don't have to use your trim tabs.

45mm prop is big, the stock motor can handle it but be very VERY cautious of the run time and temps. As stated above the 42x55 is the best prop for the SV JMO.

Watch swimming, im sure someone will chime in and throw a big hissy fit over it. IMO situations vary and people are adults. Smoking kills millions, but people still smoke so whatever...

or you can purchase an inflatable raft at your local sporting good store for less than 75.00. Also yesterday my SV went up in smoke in the inlet. My seaking ESC stop working yesterday so I fitted my SV with the stock ESC 45amp with two 5000mah Turnigy and placed the SV back into the inlet......the SV zipped off at very high speed less than 20 seconds, smoke was comming from my SV. I open the SV and my stock ESC was burned to a crisp. Now I have to check and see if everything is working ..motor, batteries.

2 esc burnt that quick. Something is DEF wrong with your setup. Post everything you where using, prop, stock motor or different, what voltage lipos etc maybe we can help.

Or buy a PFD if you want to swim.

                            thanks Diesel,
the motor that I was using was the 2300KV Ammco, prop Octura 440, and Lipo turnigy 2C 5000mah at 30c times 2. I have notice that my setup was running hot lately so I am planning to install dual cooling system. The seaking that I was using was the 60amp that stopped working and the stock ESC that was fried was the Aquacraft 45 amp MiMH/NiCD. I'm not sure if I should upgrade to an 120 or 180 seaking ESC or just continue to stay with a 60 or 90 amp seaking ESC?

The esc 45 or 60 range should work fine with that motor. Their is something else wrong, is your prop properly sharpened and balanced? Ammo motors will heat up quick if you are runing your boat to wet or not properly proped. Proper cooling is a must at all times. Bumping up to a higher esc is a band-aid for a gun shot wound in this situation, you need fix the problem from the source. That ammo should not be burning out a 45 amp especially not a 60amp esc.
