    another newbie question

ok, new to Super Vee, 2nd RC boat. After reading most of the set up threads, I'm still struggling.

1st time out- flipped 2x- adjusted the rudder, and problem solved.

2nd time our, tabs slightly neg, boat ran fast but won't stay in water.

3rd time, tabs slightly more neg, boat slowed (at least its seemed slower), but problem remained.

Running 2s2p lipos, about 2" fwd- C.O.G. about 8" fwd of transom.
strut is a little positive, but bottom is up against the transom, and I cant seem to adjust to neutral- is there a trick? I loosened both bolts and push down, but that's it. still slight positive. What am I missing?

Tuck the rudder in (negative), strut really doest allow for much adjusting. I run the front edge of my lipos just slightly forward of the rails. Make sure the trim tabs are inline with the bottom of the hull then adjust from their. Depending on water conditions you may have to play with battery location. When I run on a choppy lake I move them more forward than when I run on a glass service to help with stability.

Thank Diesel... rudder is tucked- that worked. the strut was my big problem,, but I guess I'm SOL on that-- I bring the tabs back up.

what about weighting the bow? I was thinking some lead wt with velcro or double sided tape?

Hi You can add about 4 oz in front of motor thats about what a GPS weights so if you get one you won't have to change your set up

If you still really need the adjustment, you can remove the strut and grind a bit away where it hits the transom to allow for more travel.

Is it the face of the stinger thats hitting the transom or it just stops? The stuffing tube might be extending into the stinger and stopping any more downward travel. Usually even set at neutral, there is a slight gap. I cut any brass tubing off flush with the transom that might be extending out. Fill the gap with teflon liner to make sure you dont get a point for water entry.

                thanks... I'll try the 4 oz 1st.

the back of the strut at the bottom is up against the transom- I think Ctonez is on to something... if I really need to adjust it, I'll have to grind it. I just hate to ruin the finish. It may not come to that.

My strut wasn't quite right ether at the advise of Jan from Kintec I was told to remove stinger put boat on flat surface and pushed down using the blue stinger I slide it back on and used it like a lever till I got it right then reinstalled and sealed with silicon seal that's what worked for me

ok, weighted the front, adjusted tabs, moved batteries... got a little (or more than a little) exhuberant and flipped it... ended up drifting on a tough to access shore. By the time I rescued, a hole was worn in the bow and the top sides are pretty scratched up. I filled the hole with Bondo, and will sand smooth, but what paint is recommended?

How big is the damaged area? You want a completely new paint job or touch up the damaged area with matching color stock paint?

Sorry to here about your crash! I wrecked my prett good as well and found that the Krylon Fussion paint that i used has held up pretty well. I know there are several others out there but this has worked for me.

the worst damage is a small area in the bow... that being said, there are scratches all over the topside... I may just paint the whole thing... is stock tough up available?

As for Krylon... I am considering it due to it's wide availabilty, and ease of use. As much as I'd like the boat to look good... I'm sure it won't be the last wreck.
